This place was highly recommended by a friend who had eaten there several times. She wanted us to have a fabulous lunch this afternoon. All four of us were impressed overall, with the taste, portions, service, and cleanliness. We particularly impressed with the catfish and a unique entree, called the grits” cake. It looks like a pancake but, of course, is made with grits, eggs, cheese , and topped with bacon crumbles, etc. It’s offered with your choice of catfish, or shrimp, and gravy. I’d suggest you get the gravy on the side. Again, we felt comfortable, to laugh .talk and share while receiving attention from our waitress , Regina. I would highly recommend it if you want a Soul/ Cajun food experience on Martin L King Bl.

I love, love, love this place. I used to know and work with the owners wife for many years. The food is PHENOMENAL… my go-to is the chicken dinner, with the yams, greens, rice and gravy or mac and cheese. Ohh try the fish fingers or dinner. But whatever you get will be better than you ever imagined.

Where do I start. Everything fried perfectly. The staff is amazing. So grateful they were able to seat our party that was 10+. Everything you see in the pictures. I ordered the catfish and fries. It was perfect. They are locally owned and operated. So worth the drive. If you’re ate for an authentic southern cajun experience look no further.

Before I get into the food, let me first highlight the staff and their service! When my husband and I walked in we were warmly greeted and taken to our table. My server was on point the entire time, and even though the place was packed her attentiveness and her presence did not lack.

I tried this restaurant today for the first time. The majority of the food was great! I got the catfish dinner with yams, mashed potatoes, and a slice of Carmel cake. The fish was seasoned to perfection. There was 3 nice size portions of fish. The meal came with 3 hush puppies, they were also delicious. The mashed potatoes with the skin were good. My cup for that had a bit of room in it. (I did a pick up order) The yams were not too good to me. All the flavor seem to be in the juice. I didn’t much flavor in the yams. There was a lot of juice. I think it would be better if we’re made into a sweet potato soufflé. I wanted to order a bread pudding but they were out of both. So I ordered the caramel cake. The cake was phenomenal!!!! It was definitely home made and it was moist. The portion size was good as well. I will be back in the future and hopefully I will be able to try one of the bread pudding.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!!! Celebrated my Dad’s 65th birthday there with family and friends and they were great with the accommodations and party size. Food was delicious and soulful. Staff was great and personable. Felt like family. We’ll be back. I love it.

All 3 servers working the front of the restaurant was very friendly and nice. The place was clean and in order. I had the Catfish dinner it came with 2 sides collard greens , yams and hush puppies. And because I love sweets I ordered 2 desserts! And my server gave me a free slice of cake because the last slice of German chocolate cake was so small. Customer service 5⭐️!

Having missed an opportunity to try Darla’s when I was in town visiting family for Easter–tried to stop by on a Tuesday before I left, it was a top priority as soon as I landed back in town the Thursday before for Mother’s Day…and it definitely was a great experience…

Inadvertently Came here on Mother’s Day & Brunch Menu was being served. Wife & I stayed & we’re Glad we did. The Food was Scrumptious, from the Personal Served Omelettes to the Carmel Cake…Everything was on point. Erica’s Service as Our waitress was kind, cordial & Very informative for our first time here. Chef Al & his Staff were very professional & My wife & I will definitely come back…Don’t Sleep, Go Eat @ Darla’s, U will be proudly satisfied U Did!!!
