The potato salad is like mashed potatoes with bits of vegetables but it’s bland. Everything except the sausage and tea are just not good. I would never eat here again bill millers would have been better and that’s saying a lot.

If you scroll through the reviews, you’ll see this is a love it or hate it type place. Unfortunately, I fall into the latter. I’ve given Witte’s two chances now and it’s just bad all around.

New menu with higher prices which is understandable with our current economy but at the same time the food portions are much smaller, especially the meat. Grilled chicken breast was child size and the pork chop was thin and slightly larger than the palm of my hand. These meats each came with 2 sides which were small size and cost for each was $11.99.

Nice place to enjoy some BBQ, I enjoyed the sausage and brisket. Sausage texture was great it didn’t feel like I was chewing on a hotdog.

Had a steak, cooked just the way I like it. I had new potatoes which were disappointing and a salad, which was good. But the perfect steak makes it a great meal.

We have passed by Witte’s many times over the last 4 months we are new to the area and I always said I like to stop in and try their food. We ordered the family meal with brisket, ribs and with 2 sides the large size. For our sides we got the mack and cheese and mashed pototos with brown gravy. We also wanted to try some other items on the menu they were out of our first choices chlli , gumbo, beef stew and vegetable beef soup. They were out of those. We settled for the chicken and rice soup, chicken dumpling soup and an order of the okra gumbo. We drove fifteen minutes to home to have our dinner. I was starving had not eaten all day. We opened the containers and were very disappointed as to the lack of food 4 or five broken peices of over cooked brisket and three tough rib bones. No tablewear and not one napkin. The sides were box or can quality. The gravy might have been one of the store bought canned gravies and the mashed potatoes real pototos but no flavor just boiled pototos. The soups had no flavor or seasonings. The chicken and rice was like mush with a water flavor. The chicken dumplings was thicker then the gravy with a sweet taste. The okra gumbo was from at least two days ago the okra was reduced to just the seeds no color and slimy.

Food was subpar at best. First and last time going. Brisket was ok, Mac and cheese was tasteless, corn was canned corn. Liver and onions was overcooked and there were no onions. Fries were the best thing on the menu. My 83 year old father who loves everything, was even disappointed. Spending $90 was a waste. I didn’t even finish my plate, left $13 worth of food behind.

Sides were really good. Mac and cheese was delicious. The ribs were not very good…tasted like old meat. Sausage, burgers, catfish, chicken strips were great.

Old school atmosphere, super nice staff. Plates are good size only downfall is i like spice, and not enough flavor in the foods a little to bland for me. BBQ is good, really liked the sausage.
