Bombay Bistros – West Village Menu – New York, NY

Type : Indian restaurant

Colonialism in India is what first introduced the flavors of the sub-continent to the rest of the world. The rich ingredients and spices used in the kitchens of the Indian aristocracy were incorporated into the recipes brought by the European settlers and officers. “Memsahib’s cooking”is a hybrid style that evolved when the British “Lady of the House” asked her Indian household cooks to prepare traditional British dishes. Over time, the cooks incorporated rich ingredients and spices used in the kitchens of the Indian aristocracy into the recipes brought by the European settlers.

Monday night in April. Service excellent, prompt and helpful. Ordered drinks, Garlic Naan, appetizer and shared meal. Just enough food. FANTASTIC assortment of music. From Queen to Tony Bennet to BLONDI.

Looking for a late dinner, this place upon the reviews seemed to check all the boxes. The staff are warm, friendly, and sincere. The menu has more alcohol pages than food. Their drinks are well made and delicious. The decor is fantastic, the music, although an odd choice for the place, was outstanding. The garlic Naan is fantastic. My order of tandoori chicken was an entire chicken. Who on earth can eat that? The chicken was prepared well, so I thought. My wife thought the chicken was cooked but could have been cooked more. I thought it was ok, an odd texture, but ok. Come to find out the next day, my wife was correct. The chicken didn’t agree with me, and I spent the day driving the porcelain bus and nursing a headache. Perhaps staying away from that dish would be my two cents.

If you are looking for a cozy and charming place to enjoy some authentic Indian cuisine, look no further than Bombay Bistro in West Village. This restaurant offers a variety of dishes that will satisfy your taste buds and make you feel like you are in India. The Chicken Tikka Masala is one of their signature dishes, with tender pieces of chicken cooked in a rich and creamy tomato sauce that melts in your mouth. The naans are freshly baked and fluffy, perfect for dipping into the sauce or enjoying with some of their house raita. The service is quick and friendly, and they will make sure you have a wonderful dining experience. Bombay Bistro is a hidden gem that you don’t want to miss!

Good place, nice interiors with a bar counter, staff is friendly. Got dahi puri, aloo tikki and chicken biryani. Dahi puri and aloo tikki were okay, don’t expect Indian street food taste to it. The biryani was amazing, different than usual, the rice tasted nice with a perfect blend of spices and the chicken was very fresh. It is very expensive though given the quantity of food, there were very few chicken pieces.

We stumbled upon Bombay Bistros due to its name. There was a restaurant with a similar name in my neighborhood. We were pleasantly surprised, the ambiance, décor, lighting were all cozy and welcoming. The staff were incredibly nice and friendly and helpful. We had the saag and the chicken dishes as main courses and for starters we had the Paani Puri and aloo ki tikki – do delicious! so yummy. My only complaint was that the main dishes were not quite as spicy. They were catered more for the local crowd. However, we loved the place and did go back twice during our trip.

Crispy Aloo spinach-Tikki and Paneer Tikkas were really good. Crispy okra was ok..the breading came off too easily so it wasn’t as crispy as it could have been.
