I went to dinner here with my partner and the food was amazing, unique, and it was authentic Japanese food. The couple who owns the restaurant are from Japan and incorporate food and drinks from their hometown there. We got the sushi platter prix fixe menu and also had the sake pairing. The meals in the sushi platter were more than delicious and was unlike any sushi I’ve ever had before. They were also super helpful and accommodating as they were able to make their food gluten free and it was safe for someone like me with Celiac Disease to eat! In the photo of the sushi and special roll, the very bright orange sushi next to the pickled ginger was sea urchin and tasted amazing! I was looking for a place that would potentially have that unique of a dish in Hawaii and there it was! I usually am a little picky with the fish I like to have for sushi meals, but I loved all of them. I feel like at other sushi places, one may get chewy fish for sushi, but the freshness, texture, and how smooth each fish was to munch on made this place stand out above all sushi I’ve ever had. The sake also paired well with each course they accompanied. You are also able to try different types of sake, such as filtered (clear) and unfiltered (cloudy/milky white) sake.

This little sushi spot is absolutely worth the trip. It’s tiny, so make your reservation well in advance. We had the omakase with the sake pairing and it was some of the best sushi I have experienced, matched with amazing service. The couple that owns and runs this gem obviously puts their hearts into everything they do. We will definitely be back!

Have you ever been to a restaurant that ambiance feels like you are being served from someone’s house? I could easily see this place charge $200+ a head and still be booked out! This restaurant has 3 tables and takes reservations only. You are served be a husband and wife duo that come to your table often and make sure everything is to your satisfaction. They have passion and pride in what they do. The fish is purchased at a local fish market and is to die for. I was a little hesitant to get fish that wasn’t local since it had to be shipped over but it was great. We got a rainbow roll, dragon roll, Hamachi and salmon Nigiri. The fish was so creamy and buttery that you could almost imagine a light coating of butter on top. We got a bottle of the cloudy sake and I was surprised when I read the bottle and it had 21% alcohol rather than 1/2 of that! We also got edema for an appetizer, it had a lite coating of sesame oil and seeds. The restaurant was also accommodating for our daughter. They served a bowl or rice, avocado and cucumber.

Never met a dish I didn’t like. Everything was delicious, fresh, and made with intention. I’d suggest getting the Omakase (Chef’s Choice) so you can a bit of everything. It’s a small place, so best to make reservations.

Seiji’s Sushi is a quaint little restaurant with 3 tables. My husband and I made reservations for Omakase and it was fantastic. Everything was fresh and delicious. The kitchen is in the small space with the tables so you see the duo preparing the food. It was a lovely experience and the kind we love to support. Not a fancy place, just an honest one serving delicious sushi and sashimi!

This place is amazing. I have eaten a lot of sushi, but never at such a personal place as this one. I ate here last April. This location only takes reservations, so be sure to call to make a reservation. There are only a few tables. When I went, there was three other parties. The place is ran by the sushi chef(Seiji?) and his partner, I think. The lady serves you and takes your order. She will serve you throughout the night. The sushi will be brought out by the sushi chef. He will say a few words about each sushi roll. This type of service made me feel great and valued as a patron. The food itself is very authentic tasting. This place won’t coat the sushi with sweet or savory sauces. You won’t find “American-ized Sushi” here. Instead, the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The sushi is made to stand on its own. We ordered the poke bowl, the miso soup, a deep fried roll, and a few sushi rolls. The fish was fresh and very tasty. Overall, I recommend Seiji’s Sushi as your first stop in Kona for amazing authentic sushi.

The food here is AMAZING! I started with the Miso soup and cold house sake. The miso flavor was the best I have had. The saki was on par with the miso. The sashmi was wonderful. Nice cuts and the accompanying vegetables paired beautifully. The Wasabi was very tasty and added to the flavorful experience. Next up was the spicy tuna roll. The appearance of the roll was artful. The flavor surpassed the appearance. Last up was the spider roll. Once again, the appearance was a work of art. The flavor and textures were a delight! The meal concluded with strawberries + Whipped cream with a hint of chocolate sauce. This was a perfect end to a beautiful meal. The whole experience was wonderful! If you can get a reservation, take whatever they have available! When I’m I Kona again, I’m coming back!

I don’t normally give 5 stars on my reviews but I wish there is a 6 stars review that I can give Seiji. This is truly a hidden GEM off of the beaten path. We were so lucky that we could make reservation for the next evening. The first time we got turned away.

What an experience! There were only 3 tables served in an intimate setting, by a truly masterful and experienced chef. Each course was truly spectacular. Tucked away, you don’t have an ocean front view – but the food was the best of any we had on the island for a week!
