Where to start first of all restaurant is very clean as a great atmosphere feels like I’m at a a families house . I have dined at Big Nene’s 3 times and everytime I have received excellent service , delicious food, and big portions. I’ve dying at Big Nene’s Cajun spot three times and every time I’ve got the catfish , fresh fish fried to perfection in clean oil and seasoned right . So far I’ve had the shrimp and grits , macaroni and cheese, collard greens , yams, and rice and gravy all were excellent .For dessert had the banana pudding and peach cobbler straight fire .Big Nene’s is definitely my new go to spot for soul food . Recommend everyone come check her out. Thank you Big Nene’s for the excellent dining experience I will dine here at least once a week

First time visitor! I ordered big nenes sandwich from the breakfast menu and my boyfriend put together a meal as well . The food was very good . The chicken on the sandwich was slightly salty and a lil burnt tasting but it was definitely a hit ! I’d suggest taking the tail off the shrimp but it was very presentable. I’m giving 4 stars because I also witnessed her interacting with a customer and I too felt she could brush up on her customer service , she does seem a bit rude ! Telling folks what she never saw gravy on and she’s a chef … no one is taking that from her but all chefs do things differently if what the customer asked is not your preferred way to cook that’s fine but it seemed cocky . On the side of that she needs a bell because she was also seeming rude about telling the customers they need to flag her down cause she can’t see from the kitchen.. no you just need a better solution if that’s the case . But again food was great I’ll give her that ! Would like to try dinner one day .

Big Nene’s is lit! Being from Atlanta I’ve been looking for some good Cajun/soul food — this spot is the best I’ve had in Sacramento. The food is made to order, and it’s definitely a ton of food which makes it worth the money — and it’s delicious! Great customer service and the vibes made it worth supporting a small/local business.

I ordered the 2 way on door dash, the food was nasty, and there is no proper description of the items. I got the chicken wings and catfish, the chicken was not wings, it was leg drummets, and the catfish was so raw when I picked a piece up, it fell apart immediately, and I specifically asked for the chicken and fish to be cooked longer and well well done, but I see she doesn’t follow instructions. The rice was so hard it was crunchy, and the gravy was so watery, it sunk to the bottom of the rice. The cabbage had pork in it, and I don’t eat pork, it didn’t look fresh either, more like left overs from the day before. I didn’t eat any of it, and by the way people are describing her attitude, I didn’t bother to take the food back because I don’t have time to deal with people who don’t know how to treat their customers, She won’t be in business long. She needs to have better descriptions of her food on the door dash website so we know what we’re ordering.

The food did not disappoint. Big Nene recommended a 3-way. So we got yummy fried shrimp, excellent fried catfish, and very plump and moist fried chicken wings. Our 3 sides were tasty Mac & cheese, some good collard greens, and bomb-a** dressing that needed no gravy.

Our 1st time here, we ordered the Big Nene’s breakfast sandwich and side of grits, it was so good, freshly made and the breaded chicken was amazingly crispy, juicy and flavorful. Will be trying the dinner menu soon

Nene’s attitude is rude. We understand you are located in the hood and that might be where you’re from , but there’s a level of customer service that you have with your customers. You don’t gotta roll your eyes, smack your lips or the customers like they are a child that you have to keep repeating stuff to.

I’ll give my overall experience a 3/5.. first let me say the food was on point but the customer service needs a lot of work, I’m looking at other reviews and It sound like I had the same experience she talks very rude and have an attitude while your trying to support her business and get your order in I really didn’t understand especially with me spending my money with her… Also she lied about her food not having pork in it I asked her about the cabbage she said no pork, I asked her about red beans and rice and she told me no pork but come to find out they both have pork and that’s not coo at all because she can really get someone sick plus if it’s against someone’s belief that fasho isn’t coo that’s out of pocket forreal so overall 3/5 I suggest she just get a honest good attitude front desk rep with great customer service and she will be on point
