This place is very clean, nice atmosphere with music, fresh flowers on the tables. The waitress is very attentive and took care of us, always had our coffee topped off throughout our meal. The food is good. The average plate price appears to be $10 but they have a great taco specials and affordable side items available . I was happy to find several kid plate options that are perfect options for little ones. I wish I had taken pictures before finishing our meal but we will most likely be coming back.

The place is clean. The waitresses are nice buuuut while I was going up to pay for my food and ask for a to-go box, the waitress threw away all my leftover food and I asked for what was left on my plate to be replaced and at first they said no. I don’t mean to be rude but when you pay $24 for a meal and they throw a lot of it away, you expect to get replacement food for free. They handed me one enchilada and the cashier said they were getting it for me. I said “no, I paid for that.” Then they argued with me about getting my beans and didn’t replace the guacamole that was also tossed. I felt some type of way when it was so hard to get more food. $24 ($19 something plus tip) is obnoxious for enchiladas to begin with but not to be able to take home the leftover food was hard on my emotions. They refused to let me speak to the manager and when I finally talked them into giving me my beans it was like half a scoop.

I have been searching for a place that resembles the food back home and I’ve found it! This little gem on the east side has some of the best food I’ve had in Austin. The bistek a la Mexicana is spicy and very flavorful. The cheese enchilada gravy is made from scratch and very delicious. They also have a great salsa selection. I highly recommend!

Had the lunch guisada combo and carne asada plate. Came out super fast! They’re known for their mini tacos so I’ll be trying that on my next visit.

I came up to get breakfast they messed up on my order then when I called back to let them know they told me that I could get the money back for what they didn’t put on my taco’s instead of replacing my order I will never go to this place again !!!!! They do not stand behind their company I guess they spent all their money fixing the place up cause he used to look like a hole in the wall I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there specially, if you African-American

The best thing about this place is the meat. Barbacoa and lengua are good; tender and flavorful. Otherwise, the experience was just okay. Drinks went empty, water was lukewarm, and wait staff wasn’t really checking on customers. Maybe it’s an Austin thing, but us Houston fatties are used to at least one chip basket refill and salsa refills before the bowls are empty. For the price, I’d just skip the attempt at tex-mex and do some fusion tacos at one of those food truck parks.

Love the salsas, tortillas, and barbacoa they make. And also the tacos, chalupas, gorditas, and tortas. Very friendly service and reasonable prices.

My wife and I were in Austin and saw this restaurant so we stopped by to give it a try and boy what a mistake it was. I had the Bistek Ranchero plate 12.50 and one beer, my wife got a small plate with only one crunchy taco, beef enchilada and rice and beans so it couldn’t have been more than my plate with 2 Dr.Peppers that would’ve been 3$. Even if they charged 5$ for my beer the total would’ve been at most 33$ which is way more than it was. We were told $27 by the waitress then found a charge of $42 on my statement. I called the restaurant who said the price was correct. My loss for misplacing my receipt SO IF YOU DO PAY WITH A CARD YOU WILL BE CHARGED AN EXTRA 2$ AND KEEP YOUR RECEIPT SO THEY DON’T OVERCHARGE YOU. FIRST AND LAST TIME i’LL GO HERE.
