I write this review while sitting at table. We waited over 20 mins for a waitress to take drink orders. When she finally took our food order we waited ANOTHER hour and half for food. When it arrived everything was cold, the tea tasted soured, and presentation wise pathetic.

When a friend shared this place with me, I was super excited to visit during our stay. We invited some friends there in the early afternoon on a Sunday, during which was a very quite time in the yard. We started out with some appetizers (fried pickles, wings, cheese sticks) and they were all delicious. The best cheese sticks I’ve had in quite awhile!! Followed by some burgers, bbq, and nachos. The nachos were a delicious way to try the bbq pork, topped with queso and jalapenos. Bailey took great care of us as old friends chatted and caught up on life. Best service we’ve had in quite awhile as well and it’s much appreciated. The outdoor atmosphere and the ‘grassy’ area was great for gathering with a baby. We will definitely visit next time we’re in town and bring more friends along.

Update: We came back with my wife. We got the brisket nachos again and the brisket was dry, stringy, and chewy. My wife got the ribs and said they were the worst she has ever had. They were cold, dry, and a bit chewy. My son got the pulled pork and he said his was dry and cold. I got the brisket melt and it was hot and better than the brisket on the nachos. The baked beans were good too. There just seems to be no consistency and food just seems to sit out too long and dries out.

Named after the street it’s parked up on, Lamar Yard is a big bbq spot for whatever group you’re eating with. One building’s the usual sit down, order, and eat, with little patio with around 8 tables of 4. In the middle’s a big yard with picnic tables, a small kids playground, and a stage for live performances. On the other side of the yard is a bar space. They have a considerable amount of parking but I don’t know if it’s enough for a full house of customers.

Visited this restaurant during a trip to Oxford, Mississippi and it was not bad at all. It seemed to be split into 3 different areas. The front or main area had a dining area and small bar. The yard had dining areas outside, things for children to play with and on, and a small stage for music performances. There was another area that looked like it could be used as a screening venue or a place for live music too. It also had additional, outdoor seating.

Pretty cool place. Pulled pork sandwich was decent. Nothing special. It was a slow evening but the bartender just didn’t want to be there and wasn’t half the time.

Pretty bad BBQ. I travel a lot for work, and always like to try the local bbq places… this place ranks among the worst. The pulled pork was HEAVILY peppered. It literally tasted like I was eating peppered beef jerky… bbq sauce couldn’t even hide it. Couldn’t finish it was so bad. The turkey was meh. If it was smoked, I couldn’t taste it at all. The baked beans were totally store bought from a can. Very lazy. The potato salad, which I usually like from most places, made my want to gag. It was mostly just mayo and flavorless.

This was a fun place to go out to dinner! The service was very friendly and always willing to help. The food was very good. Even though the plates looked kind of small, the meals are deceivingly filling! I would go back!

We visited Oxford for the day as a meeting point between Memphis and Madison and chose Lamar Yard because we have three kids and a party of 8. I’m surprised by the varied reviews, we loved this place! From a food perspective, everything was spot on. The only thing I didn’t care for was their spin on collards. The half chicken, ribs, cilantro potato salad, macaroni, nachos, salads and all of the sauces we had were great. Was it the best BBQ I’ve ever had? No, but I’ve have a LOT of BBQ across the country and it was very good. I was super excited to see a white BBQ offered. We went at about 11 on a Sunday so it wasn’t crowded at all, service was on point and everything was clean. The kids wanted to play cornhole and they had no issues setting it up. Super fun for a Sunday family lunch.
