This classic Anchorage restaurant isn’t what it was a few years ago. The food is typical American food, and the portions were generous but not very imaginative. I had the chef salad, which was on iceberg lettuce, with turkey and ham julienne strips and sandwich style cheese. Sandwiches were also very typical, BLT and soup. The soup was cold for my friend, which she commented about to waitress who promptly rewarmed it.

One thing I marked down a star for was the problem with undermanned help. Suzi our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She rushed her little heart out to do what ever she could and she was above and beyond. But she couldn’t do everything by herself. She had a great attitude and was the shining star of Peggy’s. That said. The food and everything would have been better with the manning. We had breakfast. Eggs pancakes biscuits hash browns sausage and bacon was really good. Had some house made rubbar jelly that was pretty good. Sorry but can’t be better than my moms. Anyway a good place to try. Ask for Suzi!

My go-to for lunch. Great service and atmosphere. The food is typically very good, especially breakfast. They also have specials and fantastic pie every day.

Excellent food! The atmosphere was diner/homey and the waitresses were attentive and friendly! We would go back.

If I could I would rate the entire experience a 10! One of the oldest restaurants in Anchorage alaska. Great retro lunch counter. Fabulous food, mostly homemade! I love the all-day breakfast. I had a four egg omelette with reindeer sausage and swiss cheese. The pies are to die for.

We were driving and just figuring out that the airport that had the Cessna 152s was not the airport that we flew in on a Boeing 767 on when we saw a sign that said “Peggy’s Restaurant” and it was cool and old. Then I saw magic: “FAMOUS PIES”. I did a U turn in front of the airport and bounced into their parking lot. My wife was working on figuring out about downloading offline maps on Google so I just ran in and didn’t quite expect what I ran into. It was SO AMAZING. Nancy owns Peggy’s. Still making Peggy’s Pies exactly according to the original recipe. When I walked in, everyone in the place (About 4 people), all turned around and looked directly at me. Nancy, walks over and GRABS MY ARM!!! Seriously. She grabbed my left forearm with her right hand and gripped it FIRMLY, and said “What can I get for you young man!”. People don’t touch people anymore. They especially don’t arm grab. I kinda liked it.. So…

Ok local Diner for a breakfast. Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but not bad food. The waitress got our orders mixed up, she was very nice. Parking is good.

Stopped in for a double burger with bacon/side of fries and some extra onion rings. The burger and service was fantastic for a classic greasy spoon. Onion rings were over done and so were the fries. I enjoy the fries being cooked this way. The burger was hand smashed with real cheese and nice bacon. I wasn’t disappointed about and appreciate the old building smell when we walked inside. The windows are extremely close to the roadway with a beautiful view of Merrill field and mountain range for the background. This place also has rare counter seating for those wanting a more personal experience with staff.
