I stopped in just for the buffet. KFC was the best option in the area for an expressed home-cooked meal. The buffet had creamy mashed potatoes with their signature gravy seasoned collard greens, cheesy macaroni, green beans, lima beans and other side options. They even had grilled chicken and their delicious crispy and original world famous fried chicken.

KFC in Burgaw has an AYCE lunch buffet 11AM-3PM for $10.99 with a small drink included in the price. Having been to several KFC buffets, I would rank this one in the top two that I have experienced. I arrived fifteen minutes after the buffet started, and it was already heavily picked through by the first round of diners. I was concerned about how long it would take to restock the items, but by the time I had ordered and paid, an employee was already bringing out fresh trays of food. The protein selections on the buffet included original, extra crispy, and a small quantity of roasted chicken. There also were fried livers and gizzards as well as chicken pot pie. There was a miniscule salad bar, but the selection of sides included fried okra, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, corn, green beans as well as the classic KFC mashed potatoes with gravy, coleslaw, and biscuits. The biscuits were excellent-soft, hot fresh, and slathered in butter. The meal was overall satisfactory and what I consider a good deal. I gave the food a rating of 4 stars. The three pieces of chicken I had were universally dry despite having been placed on the bar after I arrived, but they were all hot and fresh. Something about the shredded chicken used in the pot pie tasted off. The apple cobbler was the tartest baked apple dish of any kind I’ve ever experienced. I couldn’t bear to finish it. However, the sides were the stars of the buffet. None of the sides I had disappointed. The fried okra was crisp and hot. The mashed potatoes and coleslaw were on point. I gave the service 4 stars because I had to wait a while for a cashier to appear from the back to order and pay. When I needed fresh plates for the buffet, I also had to wait for a cashier to reappear. I gave the atmosphere 4 stars because it was loud and boisterous showing how popular the buffet was with families and small gatherings. I prefer popular buffets since it increases the likelihood of the food turning over quickly.

We tried to call 6 times before going up there, and no one answered the phone any of those times. When we got there, all of the empty tables were dirty, we had to ask someone to clean a table for us.

If I could do 0 stars I would. Had to wait 30 minutes for some chicken. Ordered a 12 piece that came with 3 sides and 6 biscuits. I go down the road and they gave me hamburger buns. Worst service ever. The chicken was not good either.

This KFC location could be the talk of the town if they had a decent staff or even opened for business on a regular basis. The staff has been atrocious almost since the 1st year they opened. Rude, hateful, nasty, slobs, if it’s a negative they have someone on staff who fits the description. The restaurant itself has the makings of a very nice establishment it even has a hot/cold buffet but all those great features are rendered useless because the food quality is poor and the buffet is usually missing several items. The employees have ruined this place, someone should step up and make it a great place to dine again.
