Loved the local community feel! We were traveling and arrived very late and most everything else was closed but thank goodness because we found Clipper Tavern! The bartender, Jill was so friendly and the hot was so good! We ordered pretzel bites, fried pickles, chicken tenders, and the poutine. Thank you Clipper Tavern!

Just passing through and thought we’d find some local fare and hoped for a place that had a local feel, too. We hit the jackpot. If you pass through, too, don’t sleep on the prime rib dip. Delicious!! Plus, they have a cider that’s worth its weight in gold.

Found this place which is away from the tourist trap restaurants on market street. Had to that local pub feel. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent and the prices reasonable. Would definitely recommend this place over the more crowded restaurants in the tourist area of Portsmouth.

One of the best cheeseburgers I’ve had in a long time and the fries were delicious!! My sister and I stumbled upon this local gem during a recent trip to Portsmouth. Not only was the food great but the service was great too! All the staff were so friendly! I would definitely go back the next time I’m in the area.

We were visiting from out of town and clippers had a great atmosphere with good food, but the worst customer service. The waitress didn’t seem like the best fit to be working with the public. A friend asked if the tater tots were good and she responded they’re tater tots. Later she went to order fried Oreos and was told the kitchen was closed when we mentioned the menu stated open until Midnight the waitress grabbed the menu out of my friend hands and said not tonight and walked away. We couldn’t believe it and quickly ended our time there when we originally

My friend and I both had the grilled Classic Chicken sandwich with chips. The sandwich had no taste and I thought the chips would be homemade instead of from a bag. There were only 6 other customers there at lunch time. I should have taken that as a hint that it’s nothing special. Two of the employees were at the bar. One was behind the bar and the other was drinking but both were very loud.
