Is what one would expect in a seafood tourist town. I enjoyed my beer with my arctic frosted mug. I would highly recommend the captains platter grilled, not fried.

We have visited Oregon for many years, and when in Winchester Bay, my wife really enjoyed the crab cocktail at Griff’s. I was always hesitant to join her at first, but she finally convinced me in 2022 and I was hooked – the best crab cocktail we have had on the coast (a year ago). Novelli’s in Florence was as good, but quite a bit more expensive and less crab. We ended up at Griff’s more times than I can remember because the cocktail was so good and reasonably priced. It felt like a hidden gem.

We came here on a Saturday from Eugene – never visited before. I overheard the staff saying that someone didn’t show up for their shift, so I think the owner or manager was helping serve tables. We would never have known, because the service was still excellent and our food came out quickly and piping hot. I’m not much of a French fry person, but I ate every one – the best fries I have ever had! Hot, super crispy outside and soft inside! Delicious. Service, the food, the view were all wonderful. I had the friend shrimp and grilled scallops which also came with coleslaw. Coleslaw was fresh, crisp and delicious. The seafood tasted fresh, and cocktail sauce tasted homemade and had just the right amount of spice. My husband had the oyster Poor Boy Sandwich and loved it also. We will definitely come back to Griff’s. Nothing fancy but good food and good people.

My boyfriend and I went here last evening for dinner. First we walk in and sit down. The place is empty other than two people. The waitress comes up and doesn’t even say, “Can I get you something to drink?” like a waiter usually does.

The food was very good, I had the salmon burger which is a real piece of salmon and it was excellent. My friend had the Halibut Burger which again was a real piece of halibut, she thoroughly enjoyed it. I’d recommend this place, it’s almost a little out of the way but worth it.

I had gone to the other restaurants on this dock and had great experiences. So, I wanted to try this restaurant as well. I ordered a Captains Platter sampler for my friend and I to split. The menu description made it sound HUGE with an assortment of fresh seafood and it was the highest priced item for the appetizers. So I figured it would be more than enough. However, it came out on a small side salad sized plate. The “prawns” were actually salad shrimp (2), Oysters (2), scallops (2) and “Calamari”(2). Nothing seemed fresh aside from the oysters. The calamari were long wet, limp fishstick looking things. It looked more like a $4 plate rather than $15. We started to try the player when I noticed a thick black hair on the plate *pictured*. We were both pretty grossed out. Then our clam chowder bread bowls came out. And I was relieved to see that it looked just like a canned clam chowder (because I shouldn’t have to worry about hair in it). We won’t be going back. The whole meal cost $50. For something I could have made at home better (without hair). I should have just gone to Crabbys.
