The thing about good bbq for me starts and almost ends with the meat, and Big D’s does not disappoint on that count! The pulled pork is awesome, bits of the char bark and all. The burger was really great, clearly Big D knows his protein. The finish, is almost there with the sides. The slaw is yummy and all the sides very much have that homemade taste. The dirty mac with a delicious green chile had great flavor. My only criticism is the one thing most bbq struggle with, mac & cheese. It tastes home spun, but lacked some savouryness. It needed some sharp cheddar zing to go with the sweet tanginess of the green chile cheese melt. Last but not least, no bbq is truly good without sauce, and on this they did great. No array of a million lack luster sauces with funny names, just one delicious down-home sweet and tangy winner! Thanks for the deliciousness Big D’s!

Had one of the Mets meals ever, here. Their take on eggs benidict. Amazing rolls, layered with super thick smoked pork belly, smothered in a delicious gravy, topped with 2 eggs.

This food truck is a hidden gem. It’s very easy to miss but definitely worth the extra effort. You won’t find better ribs anywhere in Oregon. Big D’s recently moved from Albany to Lebanon. If you’re driving south on Main Street, turn right on Elmore immediately after you pass the James Gang Pizza sign. Look for the turquoise food truck in the parking lot on your left.

Mondays you can look on their FB page they list $5 specials. Today we had the lasagna and garlic bread and the Taters and Pig which is pulled pork over mashed potatoes. Love their pulled Pork and their baked beans are amazing ( not on special). my brother-in-law likes the pulled pork enchiladas they have occasionally on $5 Mondays. He goes almost every Monday and gets four items and they eat it during the week 🙂

After hiking the trails of McDowell Creek, we decided to stop at Big D’s and ordered the Smoked Chicken Fried Steak to split. Not only was it delicious they even split it for us . If you’ve not yet tried Big D’s you are missing out!!

The actual BBQ (meat) is really good. Juicy and tender. Full of smoked flavor. However, all these bbq places seem to have their way of doing a fun different take on beans and Mac. It always turns out weird and the flavors never mix. In my opinion, the classic pork and beans and creamy regular Mac are the way to go. I’ll come back to this place again for sure.
