Wow, I was really excited to try this place and it still exceeded my expectations. Fish dumplings are the best I’ve ever had (even beat my grandma’s… don’t tell her), scallion pancakes were also killer. My friends ordered the roast duck noodle soup and chive/pork dumplings, they both enjoyed their food as well. Really excellent. Highly recommend. Prices are also very reasonable.

A lot of options to choose from. We tried the chicken and mushroom dumplings, pork and chive dumplings, BBQ pork buns, shumai, and the scallion pancakes. Everything tasted great. Each came in it’s own to go container so it was easy to pack up the left overs.

If you miss dim sum, this is the place to go. The shu mai is huge, easily twice as large as typical dim sum places. The noodles are so good. Get the handmade noodles, extra spicy. It’s not spicy, but the spices make it so good. The custard bun is a little dry, but so sweet and nice. The charsiu bao will make your mouth sticky in the best way. The items are so affordable, especially for how good they taste. On par with any dim sum place (albeit with a much smaller selection) I’ve had back at my mom’s.

Chen’s dumpling house is a small, family-owned Asian restaurant on State Street. Out of everything that Madison has to offer, Chen’s is my number one spot to go to. There’s a thing for everyone, and if there isn’t on the menu, you can custom order your ramen to your liking. Their broth is exquisite, and so is their brisket.

I have had dumplings all overe and this place has the most authentic amazing dumplings I have ever had. There’s not enough stars to state the excellence of this place on the rating scale.

Nice place. First floor is a little bit lack of space but second floor has big area for seating. Dumplings are very good, hand pulled noodles are great too. Their soy bean milk is fresh made and tasty, not too sweet.

Decent. The broth for the beef noodle soup looked super milky so I was really excited, but it lacked any deep flavors–it was enough to make me go “Oh, this is beef broth”, but that was it. There was no oomph factor or substance. The handmade noodles were great though! Very rugged, rustic, chewy–all things nice. I do recommend grabbing a spoon and eating a few strands of noodle with a little bit of broth every time you have a bite because the noodles don’t really pick up the flavor of the broth well. (Or actually, now that I think about my initial statement about the broth lacking much flavor, perhaps the noodles are not the ones at fault…)

This is my first Google review ever, so please know I’m being sincere. I visited Madison last October (it is now March) and walked by this Dumpling House and decided to stop in for some take out. I just got some pork dumplings, and they had them ready pretty quickly and affordably.

One of my favorite places to grab Chinese dumplings. Order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. There is an upstairs seating area that looks out over State St. so you can watch the skateboarders shred while you eat. The kitchen staff work hard so please leave them some cash in their tip jar. :3

Stopped in for a late bite with friends and really enjoyed this seemingly hole-in-the-wall. They have a rather decent sized menu to order from. You get a number, and they call it out when your food is ready to pick up. I sampled several different things, and I was happy with everything I ate. Good food.
