Came here for lunch as I am visiting from out of town. Have tried a few other New Mexican restaurants while I’ve been in Las Cruces and this was probably my least favorite. I got Carne asada tacos supreme style, which comes with guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. The meat didn’t have a whole lot of flavor and was tough. The guacamole was like store bought avocado puree and didn’t taste like anything. Rice and beans were okay. The best part of it was the salsa which was delicious and spicy so I don’t know why everything else was a flop. I will say that the piña colada beverage was the shiny star of this and was very delicious. For geographic reasons mostly, I don’t think I’ll come back.

Worst Carne Asada Burrito! The burrito fall apart when I opened it toppings fall out. The burrito was filled with cilantro, onions very little guacamole and meat.

I won’t discuss, their tacos are okay, nothing fancy. And they should rename their guacamole as “smashed avocado” because that’s what it is. However, when you go to a restaurant you expect a decent plate. Here, instead they serve you everything in plastic!

The Aguas are great. We had two different flavors, loved them both. Wanted to try the kombucha but they were out, which was disappointing. The price was a little steep. $40 for two people during lunch time. Pricing could use some adjustment as my taco plate didn’t come with cheese, like c’mon who serves tacos without cheese!

Wasn’t impressed on the first visit and was reluctant to go back, but I did and was so glad I did! There some miscommunication between what I wanted ( a quesadilla with cheese fries) and thought I ordered and when I ended up (a quesadilla smothered in cheese sauce with a side of fries) with but WOW – what I ended up with was so much better. Now I can’t wait to go back!

Do not leave an electronic tip at this restaurant. All tips go to the owners. Do not apply here if you are a student or working multiple jobs. Greedy, unprofessional and shady business owners. This business will not last. Prices are way too high like the turnover rate of employees. Extremely rude and over worked underpaid staff. Sad. The business owners are not true people of god. And are very greedy and stingy.

Really great addition to restaurants on University Ave. Matteo’s serves delicious Mexican food at reasonable prices. Their agua frescas are the best in town. The carne asada burritos and tacos are delicious. The service was great, staff is friendly and our order was out really quick during their lunch rush. They have expanded their menu from their food truck days. Definitely recommend this food and their Blue Ocean drink.

leslie was so rude and unprofessional. The food (if you could even call it that) was gross and not authentic at all. this “business” wont last much longer. You can tell they treat their employees terribly. Owners flaunt their wealth on Instagram all day, yet keep their employees tips?! sad. what would god say?
