Mawn is a noodle house with “no rules.” The first restaurant for Chef Phila Lorn and his wife Rachel who each come with close to 20 years in Philly’s restaurant scene.

Rachel, a Philly native, met Phila while working at Zama in 2011. They bonded over their love of food and music and grew up at the same time in Philadelphia.
After working together and separately running restaurants for other people, Rachel and Phila are excited to bring their long-time dream to life.

This has by far been the best meal I’ve had in a LONG time! I have already made my next reservation. All of the dishes we tried were outstanding from presentation to taste. Every single staff member were super friendly & attentive. I can’t wait to bring my family! Thanks so much Rachel for the hospitality & delicious food!

My wife and I were in town only for a few days and had one opportunity to eat out while we were here, and we were so glad we were able to spend that meal at Mawn. They accommodated us as walk-ins, and we spent the wait time walking the neighborhood and getting a drink at Grace and Proper, another great establishment! From beginning to end the meal and service was fantastic. The staff and owner were extremely welcoming and seemed excited to share their food with us. And the food was exceptional. We had the scallops, the ginger and melon salad, and the wagyu and oxtail noodles. What we loved about the dishes was that they improve with every bite. The longer the flavors sit together, the better, and we were not rushed at all, even though our meal took us past closing. It feels like everyone at Mawn takes great pride in the experience, and they should, because it was truly a professional, unique, and new (to us) dining experience. We got the jasmine rice pudding to go, and I can’t wait! to dig into it after this review. In my wife and I’s opinion, this was an experience so good we couldn’t help but leave a review of this place, and we hope those to come enjoy it as much as we did!

My new favorite Philadelphia restaurant! Curry was subtle, yet exceptional. The braised chicken in there as soft as can be. The crunchy noodles on top added an interesting sensory experience. The whole fish was deliciously tender. A little salty. The pickle add on is a must! Not very pickle-y, and balanced the fish very well. Service is top notch; our server was funny and attentive. Will be back.

Mawn is an incredible restaurant. The fried chicken my wife and I shared, with their special sauce was outstanding. Cozy small shop that packs a ton of flavor in each dish. Everything we tried was excellent and the service was great as well.

The food at this new BYOB was excellent and a stellar value. The tamarind broth with the steamed clams was so delicious we wanted to bathe in it, the whole fish has to be the best in the city, and the garlicky greens we ordered as a side shone as brightly as a main dish. We’ll be back soon and often.

What an incredible meal! The progression of dishes was excellent, flavors flowed seamlessly though each plate was unique and interesting on its own. The space is cozy and vibrant, service is thoughtful. Somehow, Mawn captures neighborhood joint and elegant celebratory occasion restaurant all at once.

A nice touch on taking classic Cambodian dishes and elevating it to be more mainstream. The flavor profiles were there while staying balanced. The chicken skin was the star dish for me while the fish was cooked to near perfection but the sauce was slightly on the salty side. BYOB makes it excellent to try a new bottle of wine and service was attentive throughout.

Mawn is an awesome restaurant. Their foods are awesome with a cozy atmosphere and superb service. I have eaten so many crab meat fried rice, but I wanna say this one is the best so far. Steak and prohok is good, too. The steak is very tender. So far, I love it. Definitely, come back.

Finally a good Khmer restaurant in Philly! As a Cambodian myself I can say that this place has my approval. They have the most authentic Khmer and Southeast Asia cuisines, mixed of Lao, Thai and Vietnamese. High quality ingredients, so expected the bill is going to be high. But it’s so worth it to try!

What an absolute treat! To start off, the service was spectacular. Everyone we interacted with was kind, helpful and upbeat. The chef even approached our table to get some honest feedback and I love how humble he is talking about his food.
