The Owner takes the time to talk with each guest. I am sure this place has been in the neighborhood for a while. The food was great. The fried chicken was amazing. Also enjoyed the collards and free drinks. The customer service was an extra nice touch.

GO GET THIS FRIED CHICKEN ASAP!!! OMG My mouth is watering as I type this just thinking about those collards. The chicken is fried fresh to order, extra crispy and juicy. The mac & cheese- just look at the pics *yum* The owners couldn’t be friendlier; they welcomed us when we walked in, helped us through the ordering process, and we had a great conversation with them after our meal. Tre (the owner) even gave us a piece of red velvet cake and carrot cake that we ate when we got home. Red velvet is my favorite cake, and this was obviously home made, and one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The Chicken Hut is soul food and southern hospitality at its finest! Portions are huge and the price is right ($14.99 for my meal that also included a drink and hush puppies.) My only regret is that we didn’t try the peach cobbler and fried shrimp. Go here if you’re ever in Durham. (Now I’m trying to figure out if 3 1/2 hours is too far to drive just for lunch hahaha)

I love good food and this place had been high on my list and my daughter really wanted to go as well. It did not disappoint. Everything was excellent. Fried chicken to order fried fresh. Seasoned sides like green beans and taters l, collard greens, and Mac n cheese.. it was close to my daughter’s bday and she chose this as a place to go and when the staff heard that they brought out a slice of red velvet cake and sung her happy birthday.

This place is a Durham staple! I’ve always passed it for years but never stopped bc of the area it’s in BUT MANNN changed my life when I stopped in the first time and had the infamous chicken! Hands down the best fried chicken in the city!! Crunchy, flavorful and juicy! The customer service is wholesome! The lovely lady gave me a little history of the chicken hut and told me about a few times they’ve given away dinners to schools and the homeless during the peak of COVID which made my heart warm! The business is family owned which is a plus, they truly care about the quality of the good! You know the food is good when the line is to the door! All walks of life dine in or take food Togo! They’re only open for a few hours so hurry down there and TAKE CASH! They also have parking on the side of the building.

Best fried chicken in the area! You can’t go wrong with any of the food there. Everyone working there was super helpful and friendly. If they have the apple cobbler available, it’s a MUST TRY! It’s one of the best desserts I’ve ever had!

Whenever someone asks me where they should eat in Durham, I tell them Chicken Hut. The cooking here reminds me of eating homemade, country cooking at my Grandma’s house in Eastern North Carolina growing up. Everyone there is so friendly and welcoming that it just feels like home. The fried chicken is made to order, so it is always fresh and crispy. It is literally the best you are going to find anywhere, not just Durham. The sides, desserts, and sweet tea never miss either. Chicken Hut is just the best.

This is by far some of the best fried chicken I have had. We came here during the pandemic and ordered to go and today was the first time I ordered inside. The team working here is so friendly and help guide you along the counter. You can pick a chicken meal with two sides and the food is displayed cafeteria-style so you can see and pick what you would like. The fried chicken is alway piping hot and crispy and very flavorful.
