Visiting here from Tennessee and of all the places our family has stopped to eat in the last four days Al’s Stake House has been the best. Not only was the food absolutely melt in your mouth delicious, but the staff was amazing and the prices were fantastic. People are very nice who work there. However, I decided to get a breakfast sandwich and it was terrible. The sausage was over cooked (or maybe frozen so it was super dry), the bread was simple sandwich bread you buy at the grocery store. I would save your $10 and go elsewhere.

First timer. My friend and I got large subs. They were huge with extra servings of meat. A couple next to us were having vegetarian subs and said it was delicious, too, and stuffed with veggies. The subs were very good and more than plentiful. Just make sure you come very hungry!!

The sandwich was good and the sweet tea was just right. I opted for the steak and cheese and the 8″ was plenty. I haven’t been to Big Al’s since I was a teenager. I’m 44 now and surprisingly they are still around. Customer service was pleasant.

If I closed my eyes, my cheese steak transported me to South Philly. (Full disclosure I have never lived in South Philly but have dined on their cheesesteaks). What I really enjoyed was the thinly sliced iceberg lettuce it just worked. The sandwich was a tad to salty but if I was overly worried about my diet I would not have been there. I review many upscale restaurants and this one is basic as you might expect with limited tables. But so good…

Best steak and cheese in the DMV. Meaty cheese and huge size . Fresh ingredients and cooked to order. You have to wait at least 10 to 15 min depending on how busy they are . Wooorth the wait . Come hungry leave happy eat half of the foot long steak and cheese for lunch, keep half for dinner . Make great value for what you spend .
