We also serve Turkey Stew October 1st thru April 15th. We are a drive thru only restaurant but our locations do have picnic tables if you like to eat outside. We have been in business for over 46 years. We have 3 Locations; Hartselle, Cullman and Arab.

Oh. My. Goodness I was COMPLETELY unprepared for the deliciousness that awaited me at Southern Hickory Barbecue! I just stopped here because it was convenient, grabbed a book to read while I sat outside at one of their picnic tables waiting for my food. But I didn’t wait long! I put down Pudd’nhead Wilson and opened my styrofoam box. A solid portion awaited me–esp now as all things food are going cRaZy! I put a piece of pork in my mouth. Not kidding at ALL. THE VERY tastiest, juiciest pork ever. Ever. Hands down

This establishment is drive-thru only. We had a delicious chocolate pie. The ribs were cooked perfectly and were not seasoned too highly. We like to add our own sauce so they were perfect for us. We had a pound of the pulled pork and love the vinegar sauce that came along with the pound. We had a side of potato salad and it was delicious. We will be back.

We love our hometown BBQ restaurant! This is by far the best BBQ I have ever had. My grandfather had a ribs and BBQ catering business and this is even better. The meat is juicy and flavorful. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The prices are competitive and the menu has a variety of plates, BBQ family packs, and even stuffed potatoes. They even sell dessert! A basic BBQ sandwich is always a good choice. They have great sweet tea too! Don’t forget to try the slaw and potatoe salad!

Brunswick stew is not good here. All I got was taters and freezer burnt meet. Do they freeze all there meat for how long? For the love of God Make it fresh. Brunswick stew is what I look for in the winter its hard to find a place that has good stew, I would not recommend this place for Brunswick stew as of right now. But There BBQ Taters are good. I will post picks of stew.

I was surprised to find out they don’t have cornbread. I think this is the first BBQ restaurant I have ever been to that had Brunswick stew but didn’t have cornbread . My wife and I love the place though because they have a delicious vinegar-based sauce.

Our very first time eating here so my husband got it to go…I would give 5 stars for the food but it would have been better if they would have put some BBQ sauce in bag or at least asked if we wanted BBQ sauce.. we spent almost $30 and drove 10 miles to get it because we are not from here…I’m sure I’m not the first person who’s complained about no sauce…It just ruins the whole meal……food was good but just disappointed because of no sauce.

Good food but lose the attitude. Each worker is a representation of Southern Hickory BBQ. When you have the attitude, that speaks louder than words. Regardless of great food, the unpleasant and unprofessional attitude will push customers away. And then you know what happens? You lose customers who uses MONEY to pay for the good food. Something to really think about.
