Arrived 15 minutes before our reservation which turned out to be a very good thing. Had time to go upstairs and visit the wine bar and have a glass of wine, some cheese and relax a bit before dinner.Timing was perfect. Sat down to our dinner and had really nice waiter, Frank. He took the time to make sure we were settled and then proceeded with cocktail requests and dinner specials. The specials menu, which is what we all ended up ordering from , had a good variety of tastes. The timing from salad to entree to desert was just perfect. I had the Scallops and risotto, wow!!! Also served were Swordfish, and steaks, all very good. Reasonable costs… All in all a very pleasant evening. we will be back…..

I’ve been to Pastiche three other times and have raved about it to friends and family. My most recent visit was upsetting and disappointing. This bistro is small and I had been stuck with 9:30 pm reservations in the past. A friend was coming in from out of town so I made sure to set reservations a month in advance. There was a severe accident on the way to the restaurant. I called not once, but twice to let them know we were running behind. As soon as we walked in the girlfriend of owner/hostess abruptly tells us we will need to eat at the bar. I let her know we had called twice and were never informed that we would be relegated to the bar. My friend and I reluctantly agreed because, after all, we’d worked our way through a traffic jam to get there from the western suburbs. The bartender was friendly and observant that I was unhappy with my seating arrangements. I had set my reservation for 6:00 pm and, though we were there at 6:30, there were EIGHT open tables when we arrived. But…to the bar we were ordered. From the time we arrive until the time we left there were several tables open. Even as we walked out there were still one or two tables available. I fully understand that Pastiche fills on the weekends but there was no excuse to stick us at the bar in this instance. The girlfriend/hostess must be taking lessons in rudeness from authentic French waiters. Another big issue is the temperature. One reason I set the reservation early was because I was hoping it would be cooler. This restaurant is an absolute sauna inside. This establishment seems to ignore the basic temperature etiquette of 70 degrees. As with my other visits, I had to ask if they could please adjust the temperature to something more tolerable. Excellent food and excellent ambiance but I will no longer patronize this place.

We stopped in at Pastiche tonight on a whim. Although we didn’t have reservations they accommodated us in a full restaurant. The first surprise was a well rounded wine list. For a restaurant of this caliber I was expecting high prices. Wines by the glass where 5-9 dollars and they had quite a few sparkling wines which is always a nice surprise. When seated you get a small bowl of olives and nuts. The bread they serve is simply fantastic, it’s warm without being dry and the butter melts right on. The salads were dressed perfectly. We told them we would be splitting an entree and they didn’t miss a beat, they brought out the entree on two plates and didn’t charge for it! The meal was truly outstanding. The beans were perfectly blanched keeping the crispiness, the side of potatoes au gratin were a tasty mix of russet and sweet potatoes with both garlic and nutmeg. Finally, the salmon was topped with a sauce of such perfection that I found myself slowing down so I could keep enjoying it. The dessert was of course amazing as well and quite fairly priced. The music was a little loud for my dates taste but I loved the tunes and the ambiance. Hands down one of the best restaurants in Milwaukee. You must dine here.

Had a very nice dinner with good service. Ordered a dessert that featured “Door County Cherries”. Very familiar with Door County cherries as we have a second home there and pick cherries each summer for jam, crisp and other tasty treats. Cherries in the dessert looked and tasted very much like Maraschino cherries and nothing like Door County cherries. Told our server who asked the pastry chef who insisted they were Door County cherries. We agreed to disagree and the server was nice enough to remove the item from our bill. Still skeptical. Our other dessert was very good.

I had been looking forward to checking out Pastiche for a while but will not be a returning customer due to the rudeness I experienced from the owner. I am giving this place 2 stars since the food was good and our server was great. When I arrived early on a Sunday evening with my husband and infant, we encountered the owner. When I asked for a table for 2 1/2, she gave me a look that read “seriously?” and very unenthusiastically and after some hesitation gestured to a table and said “you can have a seat over there”. Now I understand that bringing kids to to a fine dining restaurant is not ideal, I used to work in the industry. But a sleeping infant? It shouldn’t be a big deal especially since we weren’t there during prime hours. We would have left without ordering had it not been for our server who welcomed us and even commented on the quietness of our little one. Near the end of our meal our little guy woke up and was doing a bit of babbling but was still quite quiet. The owner made her rounds to the table next to us to ask them how their meals were and to make sure they were enjoying their visit. In passing our table when we were halfway finished with our dessert, she asked “do you need a box, or are you going to finish that?” Thanks for making us feel like social pariahs Pastiche ownership, at least you have the sense to hire kind servers.

Great neighborhood restaurant. Excellent rabbit, fish, charcuterie, and other items. On weekends reservations are a must. The bar is small, but it’s a great place to hang out– very friendly and engaging bartender. The place can get noisy, but not horrendously so. Ask for a table by the walls; avoid the tables in the middle.

We went to Pastiche for my Fiance’s birthday and we had an excellent experience. My fiance loved his meal! I wish I could give it 5 stars, but there was only 1 vegetarian entree and I not a fan of Ratatouille. Great experience, we will definitely come again.

We visit this cozy little place every time we come to Milwaukee. The food is excellent, the wine list compliments the menu nicely, and the service is timely. We understand they are moving downtown soon however. The neighborhood will lose a valuable asset!

Two out of three times I have came here I have ordered off the specials menu. Very good resturant. Tapas Tuesday was very good when I dined. The staff is very profesional and polite. I wouldn’t recomend bringing small children here. Make sure you make a reservation when you plan on dinning with Pastiche; it tends to get very full within a half hour of arriving around 5:30-6 for dinner. Have yet to try Mussel Mondays!
