In early 2022 Brother-in-Law’s, Joe Lewis and Mike Lamson, decided they wanted to bring their love for quality, authentic, city food to the Burbs…queue Gazzos Steaks!!! While Joe and Mike both live locally in the Montgomery County area with their families, they were both born and raised in South Philadelphia. Both families have generational roots deep in South Philly. Many family members are active Mummers and participate in the globally known Mummers Day Parade, still to this day. Joe and Mike are no strangers to authentic “city food.” Their families owned several restaurants in South Philly. One of those being Manny Brown’s (which was highly known as the best BBQ in town back in its day) and October’s Fine Dining on Front Street.

I’ve tried Donkeys, Voltacos (RIP) chubby, Barry’s, Sorrentino’s, Mamas, Angelo’s and Curly’s. After finally trying Gazzos Steaks for the first time I am very nervous to live only 10 minutes from these steak champs! The seeded rolls were flavorful and held together really well. The steaks were not greasy even with the smoked wiz (which was better then I expected!) on the sanatoga was great and well balanced with the meat. The Apollo with the shaved truffles *chefs kiss* again a really well balanced steak. I would put the up at a 10/10 against my recent trip to Angelo’s also a 10/10.

Back in the area visiting some family. My son told me to give them a try. Got the Gazzo with Cooper Wiz. This was a quality steak with great flavor. No need for any condiments, just steak, cheese, and roll (also wit if that’s your thing). Really wanted to try their Steak Fries, but alas, they were out for the day. Will definitely be heading there again before I head back to Georgia (not getting a good one down there).
