Wine Flight Casting Notes
First Course & Second Course
2017 schlosskellerei gobelsburg grüner veltliner grape: 100% grüner veltliner region: kamptal, austria tasting notes: yeast, miso and green pear make for an appetizing nose. The evident spritz on the palate makes these flavors pop even more in the mouth where lemon freshness and white pepper frame the lovely pear fruit. This is slender, dry but very expressive.
Third Course
2015 ravines chardonnay grape: 100% chardonnay region: fingerlakes ava, new york tasting notes: scents of golden apples, dried hay, and a kiss of oak form the nose. The palate is racy and rich, largely on account of the topping wine, which was made from dried chardonnay berries that were fermented to dryness.
Fifth Course
2015 mas des bressades cabernet sauvignon-syrah grapes: cabernet – syrah/shiraz blend region: rhône, france tasting notes: a very powerful wine with the structure of cabernet and the elegance of syrah. The wine displays notes of fig, plum and blackberry fruit, complimented by roasted spice aromas.

My wife and I had an amazing date night at Stone Soup Cottage as we were teleported to the French country side for a French picnic next to a pond with trickling water and live music. Amazing food, wine, and our gracious hosts Carl and Nacy! Thank you for an amazing evening and a much needed break!!

A fantastic fine dinning experience with a warm atmosphere and welcoming staff. The outdoor seating area prior to dinner provides a great opportunity to relax and take in your surroundings. The food was a set menu and was excellent, even items I normally would not eat were great. Portions are fairly small which is to be expected but I left feeling content and not overly full.

Chef Carl McConnell and his amazing wife Nancy have a beautiful venue on their 40 acre farm for weddings and corporate outings, however the focus is on the culinary and wine experiences. The level of personal attention to creativity and detail will leave your pallet wondering “What just happened? Wow, that’s amazing!” Stone Soup Cottage is truly unique, and could never be duplicated. You owe it to yourself to get your name on the reservation list.

The restaurant is charming and intimate, located on a scenic little farm overlooking a creek. Tables are spaced appropriately to allow private conversation with your dinner companions, but without feeling isolated. Each course was beautifully plated and served personally by Chef Carl. Every bite was perfect and memorable.

We were very pleased to find this restaurant in the St. Louis area. The chef cares about the ingredients and has good techniques to create the dishes. I enjoyed every dish we had, however the veal tortellini was too salty and the creme brûlée was a bit runny.

My experience with Stone Soup Cottage can be best described as: perfectly adequate. The food was moderately tasty and the wine pairings were suitable. Tables were generously spaced allowing each party to enjoy their meal in privacy. Service was prompt and professional. Overall, I felt the substantial cost was not on par with the experience and am lowering my rating by one star.

Wow. What an total experience at your place on Sunday! Thank you both for hosting the retreat! Everything was more than me and my friends ever expected! The setting, the feeling of being at home amongst friends and the food from the choice of items to the display, the layout and the temperature. Having 17 prior years in banquet service, you both truly amazed me. 5 star every way. You brought a european experience to my backyard. Thank you! Marilyn Westenberger.
