We ordered the Charcuterie Board for 2 as a starter, the Steak Frites and Duck Confit as our entrees, in addition to a bottle of Pinot Noir (La Roque). The board was much bigger than we anticipated—we didn’t end up finishing it just to save our appetites for dinner. The selection of cheeses and meats were also extensive and delicious. The Duck Confit was stellar, very moist and well seasoned. Some of the best duck I’ve ever had! Steak Frites was so-so, the sauce used was too “earthy” for my taste. Our waiter, though endearing and very friendly, seemed quite new and could’ve benefitted from some guidance on the menu and serving etiquette (he wasn’t too sure how to open our bottle of wine ). Overall, we’ll be returning to try their pastries/lunch menu!

This is my first review of 317 after they rebranded, it was only for brunch and the review will be updated as I visit more. That said the interior space is comfortable and the staff is awesome and super helpful. They didn’t have the breakfast croissant since it’s Christmas Eve but it sounds p good. The pear pastry was really good, the quiche was OK though I like it with more veggies and a firmer set on the eggs, overall flavor was good. The plant based sausage roll/pastry thing was a little too much for me; think sausage log wrapped in puff pastry. The mimosas were great. I’m looking forward to trying the dinner there and updating the review.

We wanted to try something new, so we came here for dinner before the Banff Film Festival. We called ahead for a dinner reservation. The guy who answered was more than accommodating and very welcoming! We learned they were short staff, as both bartenders were out sick and it was our server’s second night. However, they were all spot on! The restaurant was full during the dinner rush (5:30-6:50). My husband had the blue cheese burger and I the walu special. The french fries and bread service were sinfully delightful! However, we paired it with muscles in white wine sauce (highly recommend)! The fish tasted slightly salty, but otherwise the food was incredibly delicious! The blue cheese selection in the hamburger was rich and creamy! We could not eat all the food, but we tried.

my mom and i tried out this restaurant after trying a chocolate eclair from the farmers market, but ended up being a little disappointed in both the service and what we had ordered. we initially wanted to order a quiche but it was sold out even though the restaurant opened less than 30 minutes ago. so we both ordered a goat cheese salad, and it took almost an hour to get to us. it didn’t seem very busy and for a salad to take so long was a little bit odd. our server also didn’t check in with us so we almost thought she forgot about us or didn’t put in our order. the pastry on the salad was super good but the rest was pretty flavorless, and we were having to put salt on our salad. the lettuce was also almost soggy. for $15 it was very underwhelming. i will say that the desserts and pastries that are offered here are good, way too expensive but good. it wasn’t awful but it wasn’t the best either. we wanted to love it 🙁

Had issues with overcooked and then undercooked meat. Matt (owner) took these items off the bill. Good variety of wine. Desserts were awesome. Especially the cheesecake. We will attempt again in hopes the meat comes out the proper temp. This place was highly recommended to us, but it was just one of those nights….

My husband stop by for a late night dessert every couple weeks and every time, we say, “This is the best dessert we’ve ever had!” Until the next time we stop, and then THAT dessert is the best we’ve ever had. We popped in tonight and snagged a chocolate mousse and a hazelnut raspberry pastry and, dear heavens, we have been transported to another realm of taste. I think we’ll go back tomorrow for a full dining experience. This place is an incredible gem and you are truly missing out if you don’t stop by (for at the very least a pastry)!

Update: We had to go one more time before leaving town. So happy we did! It was just as good the second time. This time we sat at the bar with Bartender James who is just a hoot. Such a great time!

Oh how I want to enjoy this restaurant. We have tried several times and have usually been disappointed. Service is always lacking since it opened, food and atmosphere is good. We will not return however because of the embarrassing evening with out of town company. 2 tables in the restaurant and they still messed up our order and took a long time, no apology from the owner who was there

I’ve been looking forward to coming here for several months and I wasn’t disappointed. It was one of the best meals I have had in countless years. Appetizers were fabulous … the French Onion Soup was amazing, Steak Frites was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The desserts were out of this world, and, took home some macaroons as a tease for the next visit to Bistro 317! We look forward to being there on July 8th for another excellent dining experience!

Nice wine list and good menu options. We shared the baked Brie and the crab cake as appetizers. We also had the pork chop and the duck confit as our entrées. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent.
