We found this lovely gas station on our way through NM on a Route 66 tourist website. The kind owner and operator of this last remaining operating Whiting Brothers Station came out to greet us from his home nearby. He opened up the still operating service station (no longer pumping gas) and told us his fascinating story. He has worked here since the station opened on Route 66 in the late 60s. He sold us a few postcards, a mug, and a couple magnets. Sal very nicely turned on the lights so we could take some pictures in the twilight. Stop by and say hello!

Great Mexican food for a great price. The carne asada burrito was really good! The food truck location is across from the Circle K Google Maps has its location somewhere else. Also, this food truck is cash only.

This is the very last remaining functioning Whiting Brothers service station in the country. Whiting Brothers was once a chain of discount gas stations; they were scattered all up and down Old Route 66, and probably had hundreds of locations at their peak. This is a real national treasure, a must-stop for anybody exploring Old 66. The station is always in tip-top shape, and as a bonus, the proprietor is also a super friendly fellow with many a story to tell. Spend a few dollars here, and help keep this little corner of Americana alive and well for future generations to see, enjoy, and experience.

I’ve been coming here since I was a young man but the hours need to be changed on the internet because it says that he’s open on Sunday and I remember him being there on Sunday and I just went over there with a tire going flat and there’s nobody there so he’s not open on Sundays need to fix those hours on the website or whatever
