Canaan Valley has been somewhat limited in dining choices. Mamma Mia was a pleasant surprise when we discovered it a year ago, and look forward to eating here when visiting the area. Eat in the back room during sunset for a beautiful view.

Eating here was a complete waste of $30 per person…with no alcohol and one dessert! We ate Sunday afternoon (8/27/23). They had two other tables besides ours and a server for each. Although ours was nice, it seemed to take a long time to get things done and appeared they had a side room where the employees gathered and likelygot distracted. My real issue is the main course food quality. It was INEDIBLE! I ordered the chicken caccitore, which is a “house specially”; I gnawed through about three pieces of chicken and spit out two in a napkin. First, it doesn’t even resemble chicken caccitore and worse, the chicken was waaaay overcooked so it was tough and had a lot of “stringy” pieces. It was basically a couple of vegetables with 5 noodles and a ton of inedible chicken on top. The picture is after I ate all I could manage. My wife got eggplant parmasean and neither finished nor enjoyed it. They charge $21 per meal for almost everything on the menu. For the quality and to pretend this is authentic Italian is a disgrace. On the plus side, the salads were fresh and very good and the cannoli had great filling, but I wouldn’t pay $5.50 for another one. Of course, I very much doubt I’ll be returning. Mama Mia must refer to the bad food and prices for the quality.

Very good pizza. It was delicious. We weren’t able to dine in because we had a fussy 6 week old with us but probably enjoyed it even more getting to eat it in the park.

Excellent pasta dishes. Pizza is a standard NY Style and just ok. My manicotti was excellent. The ricotta mixture and sauce went together perfectly and the pasta was tender. My husband said his baked ziti was the best he’s had; being that his pasta was cooked perfectly. We both agreed the red sauce was thin, but still had great flavor. Garlic bread looked good, but was bland. The cheesecake was good and you can tell it’s made in house. While our waitress was really nice, I will say that service was slow. When we got there we walked in at the same time as another couple at the same time and we sat at the same time. Another couple walked in several minutes afterwards and they were greeted and had drinks before we even got a menu. We also had to hear the waitresses argue who was going to take our table. Not very professional. Food was slow to come out as well. The restaurant wasn’t busy. So while the food was really great, in future we would only consider going only if we have plenty of time. Prices are on the high side too.

First time visiting and I must agree with other reviews saying service isn’t great here. We waited more than 10 minutes and nobody came to our table. When they finally did I felt our server was sweet but for some reason they took so long and it felt awkward. The food was really good specially the wings and salad, I got the Caesar salad and stuffed shells and also we ordered Hawaiian pizza. The place is spacious and has a bar section and billar table for those who want to play. All servers seemed to be in a bad mood except for our waitress, she was friendly and attentive but the environment felt a bit hostile. I think the food is decent and surprisingly good for the restaurants location, literally in the middle of nowhere. Give it a shot maybe you are lucky to have friendly staff on the day you visit!

Mama Mia’s is a family-friendly Italian-American restaurant in Canaan Valley. The menu is quite extensive. Entree portions are generous, so bring your appetite. After dining here several times, I’ve discovered several favorites dishes and only a few not-so-favorite dishes.

We are regulars here and we LOVE the food at Mama Mia’s!!! Everything we have had is stellar! The owners are such sweet people that take clearly great pride in their restaurant. Pro tip: when you come for dinner, sit in the bar area and have Tracy serve you! We’ve always sat in the main dining room and missed the opportunity to be waited on by the best server in Tucker County until tonight!

Good beer selection, huge food menu. I ordered a hot antipasto appetizer that was awesome. It was loaded with spicy shrimp, sausage, clams and mussels and veggies and came with a bunch of garlic knots. Then I got a Momma’s Special Calzone that was delicious.
