More than 20 years ago a Native of Mexico, Roberto Ruiz wanted to bring authentic Mexican cuisine to Knoxville after owning and operating several Mexican restaurants throughout Tennessee. In 2010 he decided to open Cancun, a Mexican Grill & Cantina restaurant with a laid back family environment, serving from tamales, burritos, carne asadas, to sizzling fajitas! We live close by and wanted to give Cancun Restaurant a try. We saw our server exactly three times. When she took the order, when she brought the food, and when she brought the check. The menu does not have good descriptions. My entree came with beans that were not stated on the menu, and my fiance’s food came with veggies that were not listed on the menu. They do have a cool salsa bar with many salsas. The salsa bar was probably the best part. Probably won’t come here in the near future.

Just left this place. Idk what’s going on. Have always had a great experience here. Not today. Didn’t even eat. Cheese dip was even horrible. What’s going on? Fans are on the floor. The air must be out.

The waitress was good, only employee we saw though. Food tasted good, looks good. I got Arroz con Pollo. The chicken was almost tender, but was hard to find under a barrel of cheese sauce. Otherwise excellent. Wish they had Pacifico on tap instead of bottles, but lots of places in town don’t even have bottles. Lots of bad reviews, mostly mention the manager, who was not to be seen during our visit. All the chairs and booth seating are hard and unforgiving. If you have any spine curvature do not eat here.

Left a cash tip on the table paid the bill with my card when I checked my bank statement someone decided to add themselves their own tip to my balance. Just thought I’d throw this out there in case someone else has the same issue. We will never return to a place that steals your money!
