Best comfort food I’ve had, since I have been in the west. Take a gander before they are gone. The young lady who cooks is extraordinary with taste bud delight. Those cooks are a rare sight, unless seen on a movie screen. All the burgers are excellent, but my favorite was the Liver and onions, cooked perfect! I enjoyed my time in Dayton and my associates who brought me to the Branding Iron Cafe knew it was a gem. If you are ever in that area, driving to through, stop in Dayton and try them out, you won’t be disappointed.

I’m not a fan of leaving poor reviews as I would rather talk to someone face to face but this establishment is quite deserving of one. I came here on Dayton Days with my family and ordered breakfast. The amount of flies that were in the building was unrealistic, the service was quite poor and when my food finally came the sausage was actually frozen in the middle still. Legit frozen.. I attempted to notify the server but she was nowhere to be seen for about fifteen minutes. I became sick and went outback as to not vomit in the bathroom and while I was back there I heard two men discussing “business”. When i finished up i poked my head around back to see if these men worked here and one announced to me that he owned the facility. I told him the situation and he checked my food to find that it was indeed frozen. He then gave me the excuse that his evening cook had a bet going with his morning cook in regard to who’s job was more taxing so he let them switch as a bet and that in all fairness the morning cook had never cooked sausage before… The owner did attempt to make it right by refunding our meal and giving us a $50 gift certificate but I will not be going back any time soon. That having been said if anyone wants a $50 gift certificate to this place you can gladly have the one we received.

On Thursday, September 7th at noon the place was absolutely packed. The waiter explained some staff did not show up. The waiters where overwhelmed with customers as was the kitchen. I had a bowl of chili that was hot in some portions and cold in others. I also had a buffalo burger and cottage cheese. The burger was pink on the inside. Would I eat the again? Absolutely. They tried their best. The fact that it was packed with locals speaks volumes.

Ate Breakfast, it was great. Coffee cup never emptied. Had the chicken fried steak, which they hand bread a large cube steak. Only way to have it. A lot of people use frozen processed tv dinner style that you toss in the deep fryer. No way to feed a person. Great job Branding Iron Cafe.

We are camping close by and due to the impending hail storm decided to eat out. Unfortunately, Google translates “pizza” into “comfort food” and so gives this restaurant as a destination. But, we got a bunch of chicken and shrimp baskets and did pretty well with our party of 12. They probably don’t want us back again, since is and the next table over had a combined total of 12 to 15 kids under age 10…

Scott Smothers has really turned this cafe into a great place to eat . His brother Jason gave us the greatest service I’ve ever gotten anywhere . The food here is awesome folks . I recommend the Branding Iron Cafe to everyone . Go check it out..
