Service was fantastic and food was decent! There is indoor and outdoor seating available. We enjoyed the gumbo, the jerk chicken wrap, the gouda dip was delicious! The shrimp and chicken tacos could have used more flavor. Would like to come back to try different items on the menu!

So far we’ve eaten at Back 40 A1A three times on our vacation to Crescent Beach. Every occasion was spectacular and delicious. The salads are outstanding. The vegetables are fresh and tasty. The menu is very healthy and so are the portions. The staff is friendly and service is excellent. The gallery walls offer an artsy ambience and there is a vibrant energy about the place. We had the salads twice and tacos once. The Key Lime pie is great too.

The service was great, and even though there were a few separate parties that showed up the same time we did, we were all taken care of. The jerk chicken pineapple quesadilla wasn’t too overloaded with pineapple and the chicken was shredded and seasoned. We also got the wet burrito, it was HUGE, and you can add steak for a $5 charge…. I see pictures of the food from this place all the time. Finally had a chance to eat some and I was not disappointed! Full of flavor and cooked to perfection! Service was fast and friendly. Love the pictures hanging on the walls – great beach feel. Highly recommended! Make sure you get some cheesecake if they have it! Is the best cheesecake around!

Totally rude to add a “large party 20% service charge” to a family of two adults, two toddlers aged 2 & 3 and a baby 1 years old. We ordered food and drinks for the whole family. The food and drinks were great and we were never not going to tip the server. Both myself and my husband come from the hospitality industry and to this day my husband still bartends once a month. We are staying close by for a few days and would have loved to return multiple times after our days at the beach. Unfortunately our server judged our family and decided to make sure she was taken care of instead of offering the good service that you would expect and letting us tip. Is she doing this to everybody hoping they won’t see it and tip on top again? Who knows. If you eat here just check your bill! Totally strange that this is acceptable for servers to add 20% gratuity to a small party and not allow us to tip ourselves. Really left a bad taste and we would have definitely returned multiple times during our stay if it wasn’t for that. We come from garden city, Long Island. It’s a real shame we couldn’t make back 40 our local this week which is what we intended.

First restaurant we tried in the area after hopping off a plane and driving for 2 hours. We didn’t think about making reservations for a party of 5 and they were somewhat busy when we got there but they quickly offered us a table. Food was delicious but when I got the bill, I was charged a large party 20% tip fee. 5 people does not constitute a large party. So I signed the slip and gave no extra trip. Sad thing was, if they would have treated us as though we were not an inconvenience (We waited a very long time for the food as well), they would have found a much larger tip as I like to spread the sunshine when I am on vacation. If you are in the area, definitely head over their way, just don’t take many people.

My fiancée found Back 40 on Google & we decided to give it a try. This place is definitely a hidden gem & a MUST if your in the St Augustine area! Everything was absolutely wonderful. Our service was great, & the food was amazingly delicious. We had the salsa, chips, & beer cheese appetizer & it was so delicious & freshly made that day, that we purchased extra to take home. We had The chimichurri steak taco & The mahi-mahi wrap with sweet potato waffle fries & they were both top notch! 10/10 we have definitely added this to our favorites list & once you try it, you will too.
