In 2006, Judy Hurlburt became co-owner of the landmark establishment. For six years she listened and took note as happy customers asked – even begged – her to consider bottling the Depot’s Garbage Wings® sauce for sale.
When she became full owner in 2012, one of Judy’s first decisions was to do exactly that. Teaming with local entrepreneur and owner of the nationally renowned Brook’s Barbecue, Ryan Brooks, she began the process of bottling and marketing the Depot’s wildly popular wings sauce.
Be sure to check out our recipes and join the growing legion of Garbage Wings® chefs.
And, if you should ever find yourself in Oneonta, make sure to visit The Depot Restaurant and say Hi to Judy. She’d love to see you.

This place was recommended to us by a couple of families so we decided to stop by to check it out. It was an old Depot to a train station (hence the name) tucked away from the main town. You can tell this is where the locals come.

Very good food, not far from the highway. Appears to be a joint where the locals hang, pretty busy for a Thursday lunch. Today they were suffering from the all too well known , “short staff” but our server Tiff was hauling butt trying to keep up and the cook kept on point. Their famous ‘garbage sauce’ was pretty good, a sweet hot sauce. I had the chicken Philly, plenty of cheese and peppers, and most importantly good bread. That put hubby off, his club sandwich on sour bread was untoasted making the sandwich a bit much. Did enjoy their tenders in garbage sauce….and the price was right. Would stop again

The wings were delicious !! The homemade Garbage Sauce is great along with the homemade blue cheese dressing!! The wings just magically disappeared. This was lunch for two!! Who doesn’t want to eat inside a train depot station ??

1st time here. Called for reservations for 2ppl (Sat nt) & asked for 530pm, which they were very hesitant to give & asked if we could do 515pm instead – no problem! Busy parking lot, so get there early. Inside was minimally decorated & seating looked like they were still in Covid mode – very distant from others & not a lot of tables. We got seated on time on their indoor porch. We knew what we wanted to order when the server arrived. Ordered 2 beers, some apps (their garbage wings, which we heard they’re famous for & spinach-artichoke dip). Entrees were 10oz strip steak, sweet potato fries (side of honey) & chicken riggies, both came w/ a small salad. We waited approx 20 mins before we ASKED our server to have the apps come out whenever they were ready. (thought maybe it was going to come out w/the entrees as it was a long time to wait). He proceeded to bring our salads & rolls about 10 mins later. Then, another 10+ mins & the apps came.

Apps at the Depot are amazing! I absolutely love their spin dip and of course their garbage wings. The place is also very clean. I was just underwhelmed by the atmosphere at the bar. The bartender was not very socialable. She also was no where to be found when my friend and I wanted to order more drinks. Food is great. Bar is seriously lacking.

I love the atmosphere at The Depot bar and grill, as it has a warm, old country style of vibe to it. I would have given five stars across the board, but the cost of drinks is a bit high. I ordered two of their signature drinks, the depot mule, A classic twist on the Moscow mule by muddling mint leaves at the bottom of the cup, and the bill came to over $21. I think the authenticity of their serving style made it worthwhile though. I suggest this locale for large, important events, or for their Wing Wednesdays. Definitely reserve a spot if you wanna get in on that deal!
