Besharam Menu – San Francisco, CA

Type : Indian restaurant

Location : San Francisco, CA

We are a Chef-driven restaurant. This phrase is used often, so what do we mean when we use that here at Besharam? The food curated by Chef Heena is a reflection and homage to her journey and struggles that brought her here. Often when food from other cultures has a twist on it, it is referred to as fusion. We openly reject that description and do not identify as a fusion restaurant. Rather than dilute our food for certain palates, each dish reflects a story, an experience, a place (or several) from Mumbai, to the UK, to the Bay Area. It is her mother’s kitchen and Mumbai streets. It is California produce and the foods she invented for her children’s immigrant lives. It is techniques she has acquired with spices that she brings with her.

Gujarati classics & modern Indian dishes in lively quarters with bold murals & communal tables. Based on 450 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.3 stars. Price

Fantastic food, and great service. Cocktails were really good. My personal favorite was Right Above it. Have you ever dipped a Parle G biscuit in a cocktail that tastes like masala chai? Me neither.

We got the prefix menu with some add-ons and drinks. Drinks are very expensive. The food is spectacular and unique. We got seated in the art gallery and the service took a while to begin. 5 stars for food but not worth the price tag for the atmosphere.

Rustic indoor, it’s a small place with modern rustic decor. It’s next to an art gallery sitting inside is better I feel if you have a smaller group. You can sit ousting they call it outside but it’s inside the building though.

Amazing delicious food. Vegetarian/ vegan with many gluten free options. Loved the mango salad, dal dhokli, malai koftas, sakkar salad and samosas. Should have done another order of the cheesy garlic naan, it was amazing. The meat eaters at the table were particularly impressed with the plant based vindaloo meat balls. Everything we tried was incredible, second time here and will definitely be back for more. Also had a great cocktail selection, I have the mumtaz and loved it. The chai and mango lassi were also superb. 11/10

My new favorite Indian restaurant in SF! Fully vegetarian too which was surprising to me, but the “meat” dishes were cooked perfectly! Couldn’t tell the difference. The two bartenders are also extremely funny and make Indian inspired cocktails that pair well with the spicy food. Will definitely be back!

Fabulous place to experience some authentic delicacies from the Indian state of Gujarat. The food even though with a twist stays true to the taste it is supposed to have. The drinks are amazing too! We ordered more than we could eat since the menu is just amazing. Our favorites were Khichu, Dahi Wada, and Ringan No Oro. The Kala Khatta Soda (non alcoholic) brought back memories and the Mumtaz (alcoholic) was just mind blowing. A must visit restaurant. The staff was super friendly and helpful too. We will be adding this to our places to frequent. Make sure you plan and reserve.

This is restaurant specializing in Indian food from the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The restaurant is located in Minnesota street. One of surprising things here is that there is ample amount of parking in front of this place which is a rarity in SF. Now coming to the food, it was really great and authentic with a modern take. They have divided the food into the different regions of Gujarat and Maharashtra. They also have a great selection of cocktails concoctions which go really will with the food. We had the Patras, Drunken pani puri, Pav bhaaji puffs for appetizers, Dal dhokli and Undhiyu for mains along with Naan and jeera rice, and Disco dancer and The palm tree for cocktails. The waiter staff were really impressive in their knowledge the food and the recommendations. The food had a modern twist but with authenticity maintained in its flavors. Oh, by the way it’s a vegetarian restaurant with lots of vegan options . I loved it and will definitely visit again. I consider this as one of the hidden gems in the City

Not your usual Indian restaurant. I was meeting some friends in this area and we decided to eat, Maps showed me this place with an interesting name, I looked at their menu and was instantly intrigued! An hour later, we had ordered and ate so much food, and enjoyed every single bite! I was shocked by how lamb-like the fake lamb tasted, it was so good. Samosa were fresh and handmade, perfectly balanced amount of stuffing and crunch. We also ordered the Dabeli paratha and Paresh’s paratha. Creative and authentic at the same time. One is filled with cheese, the other is topped with a orchestra of spices in peanut sauce. I also love that they had the parathas served as 3 smaller parathas instead of one large one, makes for easier eating and sharing. While we ordered separate plates, we ended up sharing everything and their serving style accommodated that. I love how they announced what it was when they served it to you. Spice level was optimum and hit perfectly: all the flavors dancing on your tongue and you’re still not sweating from the heat. Highly recommend pairing with the raita and mango lassi to cool things down. The spicy graphics on the serving platters made me laugh out loud. Ambiance was welcoming and hip. Staff were incredibly awesome. I would definitely bring more people to enjoy not just the food but also the vibe.

Amazing flavor combinations and colorful luxurious vegetarian and vegan dishes. The menu covers the vibe of four different cities in India with a creative take on some Indian classics. Go with a group so you can taste a lot of the dishes. Can be spicy so beware if you can’t handle spicy. Four people ate and got super full for about $65 a person we got 8 dishes plus rice and naan and had leftovers.
