Everything was great except the table service. We were given one basket of bread, which was 2 dinner rolls. We had not eaten all day and got the side eye when we asked for more bread. We were given 1 more roll. *There was 2 of us at the table. I was willing to pay for extra bread if that was the issue. Usually, when you ask for more bread, you get another basket of bread.

If you’re traveling in Van Horn, please read this! We visited last night and I fully intended to give them 1 star based on the service and that I thought they were closing an hour early, it turns out, that our phones switched to mountain time and we didn’t realize it, so beware of what time it actually is, this is very close to the time zone line!! That said, the server took 15 minutes to get to the table and informed us we needed to order everything now as they were closing. We ended up switching the order to a to go order. The beer, pictured with this review is NOT a chelada. Although it was cold and tasted fine, it was just lemon-lime not tomato as advertised on their menu. Now for the good…. the food was impressive! The jalapeno poppers dip is served with home made chips (something the waitress didn’t mention, but is a definite selling point) and was delicious! My husband got the flat iron, not a steak known for being tender, but said it was super tender and he had no issue using the plastic fork and knife to eat it. I had the chopped steak which was seasoned perfectly and the mashed potatoes were pretty tasty. Honestly, if we had realized the time, we wouldn’t have come in, but we ended up being glad we did aside from being ignored by several servers for 15 minutes, much too long when there are at least 3 servers for 5-6 tables.

When we walked in we waited 15 mins to be acknowledged. I ordered the chicken fried steak. The meat tasted old, all the breading came off as soon as you touched it. The mashed potatoes were from a box and the corn on the cob was frozen corn on the cob that I can buy at Walmart. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich was tasteless and dry, the steak fries were cold and tasted like freezer burn. You do not get what you pay for. They charge like a real steakhouse and are far from it. Very disappointing that this establishment states it’s proud to serve Texas style.

Ribeye steak cooked just right, Mexican chicken w/ mashed potatoes and a side of carrots was fantastic, wings got polished off, Cattle company Burger was yummy, and the peach cobbler with ice cream and brownie with ice cream disappeared so fast! We were just passing through or we would come back for more!!

Visited for dinner while passing by Van Horn Texas. Highly recommended for a visit! Legit and Authentic! Ordered Ribeye 12oz with whipped potatoes and sweet pot fries as side dish ($23.95) and good for sharing. Their fresh buns are addicting too, with that honey butter!!! Oh so yummy. The ambiance inside the restaurant is really comforting, though it has a bar inside.. it’s a family friendly dinning experience. Casual but with quality service. I would consider their steak as one of the best I’ve had.

The ribeye and salad were excellent. They had several interesting looking appetizers; we got the egg rolls and will probably try something else next time. Our server was friendly. The prices were great for a steakhouse! The only thing negative I could say was that the interior felt more like a new/bland residence than a wild-west steakhouse.
