The Orient is always a go to for me and my husband. They have a sister restaurant called Sushi Murasaki that’s next door and you can order from the sushi menu from Sushi Murasaki when you dine at The Orient. We went here last weekend for an early dinner. I ordered the honey chicken with white rice and he ordered the General Tso chicken with fried rice. We also ordered the Clemson roll to share. A spring roll was included with our meal and it came out first. It was hot and fresh and delicious. The Clemson roll came out next and it was good but felt like it could’ve been better. The shrimp within the roll wasn’t crispy enough. My meal was amazing. It was hot and fresh and so good. My husband liked his meal as well but next time he will ask for it to be extra spicy.

Went for a graduation celebration on Memorial Day and while it was busy, they had no problem seating us. There were six of us, and our waitress handled us very well. She wouldn’t visit the table very often, but she was taking care of lots of other tables so nothing against her. My meal came with an egg roll, and it was hot and definitely fresh. It came to the table quickly, and was a good start to the meal. We also got the Szechuan dumplings as an appetizer, and they were okay. The sauce was bland and not as spicy as advertised, but the filling was good. For my main course I got the ‘Famous Wok Dinner’ with beef and General Tso sauce. It looks small when it first arrives, but it fills you up. I was expecting more, but all it had was beef and the sauce, and 3 cold broccoli pieces on the plate. The General Tso sauce was also advertised as spicy and it was not. The fried rice that came with it was bland and felt like it had been microwaved, and it had next to no eggs in it. The decor in the restaurant is pretty, but when you first walk in it is very crowded, but once seated, you can relax. It wasn’t a terrible dinner but it is unlikely that I will come back.

Let me start with the positive: The waitress was professional and superb. She was accommodating and did a great job checking in frequently.

I’ve eaten here a few times in the last couple of months and was fully satisfied and impressed on both occasions! Each time was with a group (first time a group of 12, the second time a group of 6) and we were pleased with our visit. We were promptly seated on both occasions. The food was GREAT! Sushi was excellent, and the selection is very good as well, whether you are a sushi lover or just in the mood to be a little adventurous. Cocktails were very good and fairly priced. Appetizers were all very good (Wings, Edamame, Spring Rolls). Everyone enjoyed their food very much and the portions were large. Our servers on each visit were pretty awesome. Very polite and helpful, they really added to the value of the experience because the staff were so friendly. Both times I got the Shrimp & Lobster fried rice, and was completely happy with my meal. The only setback may be the other side of a positive aspect; it is somewhat small (maybe “narrow”) inside, which adds to the intimacy and quaintness but may not be the perfect setting depending on how large your party is and how you prefer to be seated in that party. I think the place is great and its a definite “go-to” if you are downtown and looking for something off the beaten path so to speak.

Most of the food was delicious, but the service left something to be desired. We had to ask for soy sauce several times. One of the forks fell on the floor, and we had to ask for the fork to be replaced several times. The server dropped off food and immediately left. She did not stay long enough to see if we needed any other items to accompany our appetizers or entrees. As I mentioned before, most of the food was good. The steamed chicken, veggies, and rice were very delicious. The asparagus roll nagiri was yummy as well. The egg roll was stale and did not taste fresh.

I’ve enjoyed my experience each time I’ve dined here . I love the Singapore Noodles and the hibachi chicken. Well seasoned and flavorful! Better quality hibachi than some other places in Greenville.

This is our second time eating here and it was great again! Food tasted really good and just about got more than we could eat. Food came out without any delay. Another huge plus left my card card by accident with the slip. When I came back after discovering it was missing they had secured it so nothing would happen to it till I returned. AWESOME experience would recommend and will be back!

Service was good and the atmosphere was welcoming, but the highlight was the food. I ordered the fried tofu hibachi dinner, and the three course meal (salad, soup, and entree) was only $16. The tofu was fried excellently, it was both crispy and covered in a delicious sauce and soft inside, heavily recommend. It’s definitely vegan friendly.
