I got a sandwich which was $9.99 on the menu. I thought it was odd when she said it was $10.70 but even odder when I had to sign the ticker and it was $11.02. I rechecked the menu and confirmed $9.99. I told the cashier that they had a different price on the menu and said she would look into it. When she handed me my food without having checked I explained I would not come back because she did not check into the difference. She then told me the difference was the tax. I said “No you charged me $10.80 plus tax” she said it was a “service charge tax”. When I questioned it she told me you don’t pay it if you pay cash and said there was a sign in front of the register. There was…and a bigger sign covering it up. That is some shady practice.

I’ll keep it brief. Went for a visit, had a good experience, then watched staff allow a customer’s dog to freely roam the kitchen. I sent an email to the business about the issue and never heard back. Disappointing to say the least! Won’t be returning.

Who knew West Haven would have such an incredible little sandwich shop! Lovely, quaint, clean store right across from the beach! The chicken salad was absolutely to die for and I don’t even have enough words to describe how scrumptious the potato and tuna mac salsa were! I live in New Haven and would drive all the way out here just for a sandwich! WOW!
