Backstreet Takeout is hands down the best lunch spot in all of Jackson County and probably the entire Smokey Mountains. You know the place is good when the line is out the door and every nearly single customer is a regular and their order is remembered and made to their exact liking. Josh and Mellisa are absolutely phenomenal. Their love and care to their customers and to their food is unparalleled. My wife and I go at least twice a week usually and the food is always fresh, consistent and absolutely delicious. If you have never been and don’t know what to get, the automatic go to is the cheesy chicken with seasoned rice. You have the choice of a variety of toppings for no additional charge. I cannot emphasis enough that if you are in Jackson County and don’t make a visit to Josh’s Backstreet Takeout you are doing yourself a genuine disservice. Also, I probably shouldn’t say this but their peanut butter cookies are ridiculously scrumptious. The only reason I contemplated not sharing that info is…. I worry of too many people find out about the PB cookies there will be none left for me . Thanks for everything Josh and Mellisa, you’re the best!

One of my long time favorite places! The food is delicious and all of the owners have passed it down to people they trust and they have kept the same vibes and wonderful food. This place is a treat and my favorite place in town. My kids even love it here and we try to come weekly! Make sure to bring cash or local check. Be prepared that there will probably be a line:)

Melissa’s is amazing! Love the food and people! Cheezy chicken over seasoned rice is my absolute fave! Also love the half salad 🙂 if the rice and beans is the special get that with Cheesy chicken, and you will thank me later.
