Just ordered take out from this location. Ordered smothered chicken. Had to wait 25 minutes for the order. Heard the cashier call back fried chicken so I re-iterated that I ordered smothered. She stated ‘they have to fry it first

So went to Lee’s Kitchen today offa recommendation. I was very exclted to try curry oxtails for the first time and to support a black business. The young lady who took my order was very sweet and well mannered. The one fixing my order on the assembly line not so sweet. As a matter of fact she was quite rude. I ordered hurry oxtails, green beans and macaroni and cheese. Someone comes from the back and began to prepare my order so the person looks up with an very aggressive tone and said “is this your food I’m fixing”? We answered yes it is. She responded by saying “then move over to the other side of the line”. While preparing my meal we noticed that the assembly line worker did not put rice at the bottom of the box before putting the oxtails in. My associate noticed and about the rice. She said “you already have two vegetables (string beans, macaroni and cheese). I didn’t know that rice was considered a vegetable my associate replied. I thought rice came with the entree and she said ” no you have to pay for rice, it is a vegetable and if you want it you need to go back to the register and pay for it(quoted the price). I will NEVER visit Lee’s Kitchen in Raleigh North located at 1100 Raleigh Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27610 again just based off the service… have not tried my food yet. I asked the female who’s the owner of the restaurant (to make a complaint about her lack of customer service skills). She boldly and proudly yelled out “He’s My Husband” She’s the owners Wife people . She asked, if there’s a problem. I said yes needed because I felt she was rude my associate and I. She disagreed (debating my opinion) and I let her know that her behavior are reasons why some people of color have issues supporting owned black businesses. Facebook the OWNERS Wife told me ” than Take Your Money the white man’s restaurant”. Well Lee’s Kitchen in Raleigh North (Wife of Owner) I will do just that hell I’ll go anywhere for at least common courtesy.

It was cool the employees were AMAZING !!! the food was just very greasy but it also could’ve just been the oxtail sauce. It was good fresh and hot!! It was plenty of meat , but it wasn’t as spicy as authentic Jamaican food. I would’ve rather tried the red beans and rice tho instead I will be back because they have plenty of sides to choose from. I’m from Ohio so I’m on the hunt for authentic Caribbean food. I would definitely recommend this place to tourists and it was very clean inside.

This review is for the Raleigh Blvd. location (2/19/23). Staff was great and the service was actually pretty fast, but my curry goat wasn’t tender at all. I couldn’t even chew it. If I didn’t live so far away I would have attempted to return it. After spending over $20 per plate, I would’ve expected something at least edible. ♀️

Not friendly, rude, and food was extra greasy. After spending over $50 and waiting 35 minutes, I was very disappointed, wouldn’t recommend this location at all. Capital is better in the service they provide in my opinion.
