Thaliwala is a fast casual concept of Indian and Nepali cuisine that specializes in Thali – a traditional and diverse platter of small dishes served on a large plate. Our Thalis will provide a culinary journey through the diverse flavors of the Indian subcontinent, featuring a selection of curries, rice, breads, chutneys, and more.
While the literal meaning of thali in Hindi is “plate”, in India and Nepal it represents so much more. The thali represents balance. Balance of vegetables. Balance of meats. Balance of spices.

Thaliwala, a Nepali restaurant located in the southern metro of the Twin Cities, fills a much-needed gap for authentic Nepali cuisine in the area. As the owners also own the popular Nepali restaurant “Gorkha Palace” in the downtown area, my expectations were high, and Thaliwala did not disappoint. The menu style and food maintain the same level of authenticity as its downtown counterpart.

About 4.6 overall. The name Thaliwala, and an option for ordering, is a meal (see photo with 7 items); or order items like the Chicken Tikka Masala also pictured. The Thaliwala is like a sampler and the one I had was very good. A casual Indian restaurant in a strip-mall, so obvious limitations, but they have done about all you can do with the space. Order at the counter, lots of seating. I believe Gorkha Palace in Minneapolis is same management. Check it out, definitely recommended.

Tried couple of items here and can say that the taste and quality of food is really great and that also justifies the price of the food. Their thali will gives you an flavorful experience of actual north Indian home like taste. Mild spices to maintain the flavor of food. Their taste is not like majority of commercial Indian restaurants but sure is flavorful, authentic, healthier, homely and tasty. I highly recommend to give a try.

I had an absolutely delightful experience at this Nepalese restaurant! The flavors and aromas transported me straight to the heart of Nepal. The dishes were expertly prepared, showcasing the rich tapestry of Nepalese cuisine. From momo dumplings to aromatic curries, every bite was a journey of taste sensations. The warm and inviting ambiance, combined with attentive service, made the meal even more memorable. If you’re looking to embark on a culinary adventure and savor authentic Nepalese flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit!

Not the best for the surcharge (18%) we pay. Either the ambience or food taste can be better. Salt was less on the momo stuffing and samosa stuffing. The green chutney and momo dip chutney was wonderful. But I don’t see a come again reason. Thali is only on weekend. Can be better in a whole.

A great new spot in Chanhassen for anyone who loves Indian and Nepali food! On the weekends they serve thali which includes a wide variety of different dishes and is a fun way to try a lot of things. Food was beautifully prepared and flavorful – my favorite dishes were the veggie pakora and navarattan korma. Really friendly and attentive service as well!

Great vegetarian options! The veggie pakor was excellent with a very light batter. I also had the Navarattan Korma (see photo) which had a nice warmth to it (ordered medium spice).

Thaliwala us a great addition to the Minneapolis metropolis. The concept of a fully prepared meal on a plate (Thali) is fantastic! There are several o Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Location in Chanhasan is fantastic too. This is affiliated and managed by the famous “Gorkha Palace “Moma Dosa” group which brings a variety of Nepalese, North Indian, South Indian cuisines to the Twin cities area. Most of their foods are based on “Organic” produce, locally sourced. “Strongly recommend a visit!
