It’s been years since I dined here. My first time here was on a date in 2000. The food was phenomenal. Paired with the eclectic vibe and feeling like we stepped into a Spaniards living room, local art adorned the walls with low lighting and bustling chatter. There wasn’t another table empty. I would return here on every one of my frequent trips and become friends with Adolfo himself. He was a great conversationalist and had amazing world views. I found out a few days ago that he is no longer with us. Although I was starving when I walked in, my sadness with this news affected my appetite. I got the same thing I had when I first came here. The seafood sauce over sole with salad. Skipped drink. Great service and lively vibe. This place is a hidden gem. You can feel comfortable and relax with your meal. Great location on Frenchmen also.

Wow! This place! What an absolute find! This place has so much character, so much charm, overwhelmingly cozy and quaint. You won’t find it without knowing it exists above the Apple Bar, another gem.

This place is incredibly popular on Frenchman St and we had many recommendations to eat here. I can see why people would enjoy it because it is a very unique restaurant with food cooked fresh but for me the setting was overwhelming. The restaurant is in an old apartment which makes the space very small and they can only fit in 20-30 people. Our table was right by the door so I felt like I was in the way or having to watch people coming in while we were eating. It was also warm in the space with so many people in a tiny area. I ordered a stuffed fish which had crab meat in it and I pulled out a ton of pieces of shell which was annoying. Other people in our group did enjoy their meals and the restaurant does have a unique and cool history. Our wait staff was also very nice. If you have sensory issues like myself though, you may not enjoy this restaurant as much.

Adolfo’s is one of our favorite restaurants. Small, personal with very good food and service. They do not take reservations so we like to get there about 5:30 PM when they open. Normally we walk right in, but half an hour later there will be a wait. The ocean sauce is great on almost anything and the garlic muscles are my favorite. Our server, Rachel was the bomb. Always good!

The Ocean Steak was really good, plenty of crawfish and shrimp and the sauce was great! Chicken Parm was a really generous portion, but could’ve used a bit more flavor, and/or garlic. Service was excellent! Ambiance, in my opinion, if you’re looking for an authentic NOLA dinner experience, complete with jazz playing downstairs is perfect!

We had dinner here on a Tuesday. The restaurant is in a small space upstairs above the bar. At 1 time, the space was a 1 bedroom apartment. We ordered Old Fashions downstairs & took them up with us. We ordered the clam pasta with white sauce & Chicken Parm with pasta. The bread was garlicky & delicious. It was a delicious meal.

Absolutely fantastic! This place is a favorite with locals. I had the steak w/ ocean sauce: perfectly done. The marinara is fresh and flavorful, with a hint of basil. My heritage is Italian, and I would unequivocally say good enough for grandma! The Ocean sauce is rich and creamy with depths of flavors. The restaurant itself is charming and very New Orleans. Come here to spend a little time and enjoy yourself; good for special occasions (not for tourists looking for an insipid “Olive Garden” type of experience).

This place was okay. The place itself is small and cute so come early. However, it doesn’t smell pleasant when it opens.

We were put on the wait list but got a seat fairly quickly. The mussels were delicious perhaps a little too salty. However, when I got my ocean pasta, it had no salt. We tried to flag down a server to ask for salt but it took them several minutes to notice us. Then while eating the pasta, I bit into something hard and started to choke. There were actual shells in my pasta! Whoever was peeling the crabs and shrimp clearly didn’t do a good job. When I notified the waitress about the shells in my pasta, she just said “that’s cuz it has real seafood”. Yes but it’s supposed to be peeled shrimp and de-shelled and shredded crab meat. It was presented as though everything was prepared properly. Imagine my horror when I felt something sharp stabbing the back of my throat and I started choking. This ended up being a very disappointing experience.

Had two locals tell me about this place and dang I am so glad they did. At first blush outside you’re going to question your sanity for wanting to eat there. The place was covered in plywood and had open spray painted on it. When you meander up stairs you’ll find the tiniest little restaurant seating no more than 40 at a time. First come first served is the method, no reservations taken, I wouldn’t recommend a party bigger than 6 unless you are willing to wait a LONG time or be there before open to be first in line. Yes, there is a line at open, yes it is worth it.
