A lil gem in the Marina, Montesacro has really transported peculiar Roman cuisine to the area. With such a varied menu, while still holding on to their roots, Montesacro offers an array of deliciousness. We went here for dinner and were warmly welcomed by their manager Nick, he is an absolute delight to talk to and shared some of his experiences and recommendations. I had their lychee martini and was completely blown off by the amazing hues of lychee, citrus, and spirits, all mixed together to make a perfect concoction. One can definitely go here just for this drink and a pinsa, and your eve is set. It’s that good of a drink! I also tried their bergamot gimlet, the tantalizing flavors of secco and italicus bergamot makes this drink unforgettable. I was very impressed to get 2 back to back amazing cocktails. We skipped starters and went for the tormaramcio to accompany our drinks. I can’t praise this pinsa enough. It had just the perfect cloud-like crust. It wasn’t doughy or too heavy. The piquant taste of the soppressata mixed with cheese and a light tomato sauce and basil makes up for a delightful flavor that will linger on for a while. I highly recommend the tormaramcio pinsa and can’t wait to try the other pinsas on their menu. The quantity too is very impressive, and it can be split between 3 or 4 as an appetizer as well. For the main course, we ordered the cacio e pepe and lamb. One of the best cacio e pepe I’ve had, cheesy and creamy indulgence to it finest. The lamb had a burst of flavors, and even though we ordered well done, it was very succulent and not chewy at all. I wish the quantity was more, as i couldn’t have enough of it. I will surely be going back to try other items from their menu and the cocktails. They are a definite 5/5.

Wonderful meal, beautiful atmosphere, and excellent service. They were able to make a simple vegetarian red / pomodoro pasta for us that was incredible, and the cacio e pepe was delicious. Bread was good but wish it had been warm. The fried risotto balls with smoky mozzarella was good but it would’ve been better had they been on a bed of red sauce (like the one in our pasta!) – they were just a little too dry. Olive oil and the chili olive oil were both so delicious with a great flavor. Amazing time and would love to go back!

I saw this place on instagram and I knew that I had to try it. The food was delicious the pesto pasta was so creamy and flavorful. Make sure that you order the pizza and not the pinsa or at least know the difference between them so you get what you want.the place should explain the customer the difference, both are delicious but very different. The place looks neat and service is good they have indoor and outdoor tables enough for big or small groups. Come to try it!

The best grilled octopus I had in a really long time. Grilled to perfecto and the light sauce complemented the dish perfectly.

One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to in SF. The food absolutely blew me away. The grilled octopus was phenomenal, the pinsa I got was insanely tasty, and the lychee martini was delicious! Definitely going back again!

Their vongole was unique take that tasted superbly well. Their waitress Salomé was amazing, accommodating, attentive, energetic, and enthusiastic in her service. Their host was also very accommodating with making sure our outside seating was warm and comfortable. The vibe is more of a quieter one but remains flexible for all occasions. Would recommend!

Came for a group dinner. House bread olive oil was worth it. Octopus was tender and the sauce was definitely worth saving to dip bread. I thought the pasta was cooked well but the sauces were too rich for me. My friends loved them. I really liked the bread for the pinsa. Panda cotta had really good texture though I’m not sure I’m a fan of the olive oil.

This chain is our favorite Italian restaurant. In our opinion it is as close to Italy dining as possible in the states. We love eating here. On our latest visit they said they were under staffed. I had to get our waiters attention at ever step to get him to come to the table. Not what I expect state side, but it is the way in Italy… only difference is in Italy they are looking for you to call them over, here I had to almost make a scene to get their attention.
