Pops is just a fantastic Italian Beef joint. We’re so lucky to have them here in Lyons. Beef with hot was big, juicy and delicious. Just the right amount of spice and crunch from the gardinera. Fries also outstanding. Pairs perfectly with beer from another Lyons gem, BuckleDown Brewing!

Stopped in to order two double cheeseburgers (they have a deal if you buy two) and ended up getting breaded mushrooms and an oreo shake as well. Mushrooms were amazing, burgers were filling but maybe a little less seasoning than I’d have liked. The shake was good, but not as good as others in the area – it did the trick to satisfying my craving though! Thanks for lunch!

I literally live in “beef land.” I’m surrounded by top-notch beef restaurants like Novi’s, Mr. Beef, Mr. Submarine, Buona Beef and so many others, It would take me an hour to list them all. And believe me, they all have their merits to go along with their tasty food, but when I want a great beef sandwich, I go way out of my way and visit Pop’s in Lyons. They simply have the best beef and Italian sausage in my area. Perhaps it’s the freshness of the beef or something about the way they prepare it that makes their beef sandwiches stand out from all the rest. They also have a whole slew of fantastic soups, too. Their in-store and drive up menus are very helpful, with plenty of photos. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know the difference between hot peppers (giardiniera), sweet peppers and mild peppers (yet another different type of giardiniera). They’ll prepare your food the way you like it. I like my beef sandwiches with mild peppers, red sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese—and they’ve never gotten any of my orders wrong at the drive thru or at the counter. Years ago, I told my neighbor about Pop’s and how much I loved the food there. He said, “Oh, c’mon” in disbelief (probably because he, too, lives in “beef land”). So I brought back a beef sandwich for him to try out. After that day and ever since, he agrees with me! Pop’s is the best.
