Amazing food. One would think that it is the typical touristic attraction with no quality but it is actually very good. The clam chowder was amazing! The clam chowder with bread though is smaller than you would think as the bread takes up for the majority of the dish, but it was so good that we ordered other 2 small portions after that. We also had salmon that was very well cooked and tasty, crab cake that comes with a sweet mango sauce and the jumbo shrimps which also were very good and light.

Went specifically for the oysters, each averaging around $3, and they were delicious!!!! Always a little cautious when it comes to eating seafood as such, especially in such a “touristy” area as the Fisherman’s Wharf – but had no issues. I also ordered the clam chowder, which was delicious – clam chowders are usually not that great at a lower price range in my experience, but not the case at Grotto Fish Market. I definitely recommend.

Their Virgina oyster is my favorite, and I also recommend the clam chowder. We got the baked style (which adds cheese, crab meat and shrimp to it) but I’d recommend the regular ones because the baked style is a bit too heavy and also the additions don’t really worth the price. Their lobster roll is mediocre – the bread is soaked in butter which is too heavy for my taste. However they are very generous with the lobster meat.

Wonderful seafood experiences! Totally worth the price! We ordered seafood cioppino and grill halibut. The portions is great. There’s a big crab and bunch of clams, mussels, fish and shrimps in the cioppino, so fresh and sweet. Grill Halibut comes with rice and salad. Good balance made my tastebud happy. Sangria is a good highlight addition to the food. Service was friendly too. Overall great experience, I would come again 🙂

Best clam chowder I’ve had! I shared a clam chowder and the Admirals platter with my partner and it was really tasty and filling. The service was phenomenal as well, definitely would come back. Everything is fresh and tastes great.

Ordered fresh oyster, lobster roll and clam chowder. Oyster shoots were amazing! Dipping sauce had rich flavor. Lobster meat was cold, wish it could be warm. Side veggies tasted great. Clam chowder was a must-have. Clam meat was fresh and pieces were big (unlike clam meats normally get lost in most places). Plus the view of water was great. Perfect place to eat after whale watching or want to have a quick food stop. This restaurant also has another branch right across from it. The name is the same but that one is more like fine dining. That one was the original and then later they opened this one that is more casual dining experience.

Best clam chowder I have ever had! They are not stingy with their portions and you actually get chunks of clams and shrimp. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. Calamari appetizer was great, the calamari steak burger was huge with all the toppings, and the seafood pasta’s sauce was amazing. The service was so attentive and kind. Restrooms are very clean and classy. They have a desert tray ready for you to choose from when you’re done with your meal. I would definitely be returning.

The great local American seafood restaurant in the Wharf. This is their more casual restaurant but small. They had great and fresh seafood. Their lobster roll and Bloody Mary were delicious. I had their cioppino that was quite good but needs a bit more spice. Otherwise, a great restaurant and more friendly than the other sister restaurant.

We were looking for Kocomo’s because it had great reviews, but it has transformed into the Grotto Fish Market. Signage still shows Kocomo’s in a few places, and it does still have a lot of oysters, so it was a bit confusing. Ambiance is “island tiki”, and service was very professional. The menu is expensive, but typical for Monterey wharf. We had a very disappointing lobster roll for $28, a good-but-not-memorable ahi poke bowl for $23 and an excellent clam chowder for $9. Drinks were reasonably priced for the area, but we still wound up dropping over $100 on lunch for two. If I gave it another shot I would stick with the chowder but try some other dishes.

Food: Wonderful lobster rolls here. It was so fresh and flavorful, including the bread. The salad included was also superb. The Micheladas were a perfect match.
