Fresh food and delightful staff make the Downtowner a charming and delicious choice for dining. The menu is primarily sandwiches and salads, but the quality of ingredients sets Downtowner’s items apart and worth a visit. Their oversized cookies are famous in Madison. After tasting one, I am happy to spread the word. Enjoy picturesque downtown Madison and rejuvenate with some grub at the Downtowner.

My son and I were in town hiking. We stopped here for dinner. I had the Frisco melt with Italian pasta salad, my son had a roast beef, bacon and bbq sandwich. We thought both were great. Prices seemed reasonable. The waitress was super friendly. Sitting area is small but on a weeknight we didn’t have to wait for a table.

We come to Madison a few times a year and this is one place I look forward to visiting every time!! Love the food and the service! This historic building is full of character and charm. Well worth stopping for a nice meal and relaxation. I try a different thing most of the time but if I just want something I know I get the Club with BBQ.

Slightly funky, no nonsense spot on Madison’s main drag. The sandwich menu has lots of variety, with some ambitious offerings. If I’m honest, a little more attention to the ingredient selection would raise this to an easy five star. The dessert offerings looked great, but we didn’t have time to sample. Well be back again.

Great food! Glad we tried this place while we were visiting Madison! I had a club sandwich and it was great. The service was awesome and friendly which was a good thing since by coincidence our server was also our server for breakfast at a local coffee shop that very morning.

We tried a few sandwiches, and split some bread sticks for the table. The sandwiches were all good. The bread sticks were surprisingly delicious. Service was friendly and fast.

We had lunch today and while it was pretty busy, the two women waitressing gave excellent service. We watched nearly all the people picking up takeaway and cashing out purchase some of their giant cookies so naturally we had to do the same! They were so awesome!! I’m sure we will visit again during a return visit to this cute town!

Great service! Quality food. I got the Buffalo chicken wrap with a salad. I ate half of it and then got the grilled cheese to go. I was only disappointed in the blue cheese dressing… It was vinegar based and not very good. I also assumed the chicken would be fried, but it was grilled. (it was still good, just not what I was expecting) The salad was fine. The grilled cheese bread was a bit under-toasted, but the cheddar cheese on it was really really good!
