Very weird experience. The guy packed my food and seemed mad while doing it. The plantains were so dry and old I told him I didn’t want any. The oxtail gravy is NOT gravy, its water! Food is not fresh at all! He took my food to the kitchen and came back and packed it up so I have no idea what he did to it. I asked him of he was ok and he said he just going through somethings and started talking about the the state of the world. I paid and tipped and left. It smelled a little and the kitchen looked dirty. Won’t try this place again. Waste of 40 bucks

Absolutely horrible experience. Please do not waste your time, gas or money visiting this establishment. Also, do not place an order online, as I had to learn this the hard way. “Apparently” the online service wasn’t working and they had no oxtails ready. The time was 1:19pm. They didn’t have my order ready until 4:00pm. The only reason I came back for my order is because I ordered online and it would take 7-10 days to get my refund. Once I received my order(pictured) it should speak for itself. The oxtails had no flavor, they didn’t give me the rice and peas, or yellow rice I ordered. The white rice and cabbage were undercooked. I was 100% disappointed and will never visit, nor recommend this restaurant to anyone. Customer service was no better. The man at the register made it seem like I was an inconvenience to be in the store and I shouldn’t have ordered online.

Doesn’t matter if you spend 15 or 50 dollars like I did you expect to get what you pay for, well that was not the case today. Ava’s has been alright in the past, but today it was so bad I’ll never spend another dollar keeping them in business. The Oxtail was the worst I’ve ever had, it wasn’t even cooked thoroughly. The rice was crunchy and the cabbage might as well of been raw. Unacceptable and to anyone that writes a review saying Ava’s Caribbean food is 5star………..STOP LYING!!!!!!!!!

The food has great flavor, and the owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. I’m giving it a 4, for the reason that it’s not my cup of tea, but the quality was great. Meat was falling off the bone, and food was flavorful.

Horrible experience; first customer service took us a few minutes to order as the guy taking our order was more interested in his phone and didn’t pay attention to us as we order as we had to repeat three times. At the end didn’t give us our drinks and forgot to charge as well. The food was very disappointing as the rice was hard, meat was more bone than anything, and the boxes were overfilled with sauce as it came out of the boxes and into the bag. Food did not taste good at all we didn’t finish. Goat curry was super salty, jerk chicken was over cooked and plantains had no flavor as they tasted like they just got thawed out from being frozen. The pineapple glass bottled drinks were the best item we had.

Tried Ava’s finally…..Have to say I wasn’t too impress with the food. I tried the curry chicken and chicken with brown sauce. The food wasn’t bad but had no or very little seasoning. Also the way they cut up the chicken to make it seem like you have a good size serving of meat gave me issues to. I couldn’t really enjoy the chicken because I had to watch out for small pieces of bone that could have got lodged in my throat. So in other words it wasn’t a good experience for me. Wanted to try the ox tail but they were out so hopefully the next time I visit I’ll be able to try that dish. I’m torn on recommending them to try, because sometimes a restaurant can have a bad day. But at this time I can’t recommend them but if you had a better experience with other items on their menu let me know and I will give it a try.

Food was been great coming here all the way up to last week . I ordered large plate of oxtails and 4 oxtails were stuck together . I called them back asking for at least 3 free oxtails on next visit because their no absolutely no meat on the oxtails that were stuck. I was told they can’t do a free side order of oxtails.. well what a waste of $25 would never come again
