Wow guys I tried the pizza & it was Huge & was so flavorful. I had it with chicken on one side gyro on the other, if you ask which one was best I’d have to say the gyro but when I get the chicken over rice wins for me & the gyro wrap is my fast go to. Beautiful good & wonderful people that own it. Hey I forgot to mention the most important part for me ( as a former restaurant owner myself) YO, that place was clean & I hope you’re friendly when you visit because the owners will come out & talk with you, hey my next visit I need coffee after dinner let’s see if we can get some of their traditional coffee

Phenomenal food, serving size, and even better customer service! I was really impressed by this new spot in San Marcos and I will be back again everytime I come. They even threw one of their desserts on my order on the house! Just out of pure hospitality and kindness. Good people! You can see why they have 4.9 stars on Google just based on all 3 factors I indicated.

Really nice place to go with family. Food is delicious. Especially loved the gyro over rice. The meat was perfectly seasoned and chewy.we also ordered the cheesy beef wrap which was tasty too.

Honestly the best chicken over rice i had, this is really better than any halal food i tasted. The biriyani rice made of basmathi rice and the freshly made chicken is definitely worth to try.. ( I only went once and tried chicken over rice, need to try their other menu).. Food is very fresh and of good quality. I spoke to the owner Hussain and he explained how important is his passion for serving good quality food at reasonable price. Definitely recommend

We had an excellent dining experience at Halal Basket and would highly recommend it. The service was exceptional – the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. We ordered the Gyro & Chicken over rice and the Chicken Shawarma, both of which were delicious. The meat was perfectly seasoned and the accompanying sauces complemented each dish perfectly.

Update: As promised I had to come back and this time I snapped some pictures! Everything below was Jaír as true, it was nice to be greeted with a “welcome back” and a smile. The customer service is superb and it’s always nice to feel valued. Come try out this awesome food! Glad we got to dine in this time, such a well-kept place.

I ordered on DoorDash as I recently moved back to San Marcos, looking for a similar halal restaurant like the amazing ones in Austin. This is NOT like regular halal, the rice is white basmati rice missing the tumeric in some areas. It’s a mixture of orange, yellow and then mainly white rice. The after taste tastes like Indian food. The chicken is seasoned well, but not enough to the proportion of rice given. It’s missing the pickle flavor, red sauce, extra white sauce, and fully tumeric seasoned halal rice. If ONLY they had the pickles/pickle flavoring of the juice, red sauce, tumeric seasoned rice, and the option on DoorDash to add EXTRA white sauce or special requests. Won’t be ordering from here again. They’re new, so they have some work to do

I stopped here out of convenience but I am glad I did. I was the only customer because of the odd time I was there. But the phone was ringing non stop. Honestly the food was good, excellent portions, but the family and how they run things together really made me feel full. Such a cute family. Reminded me of the good people I encountered while traveling & everything was so clean and carefully placed. Thank you for the experience. I will be back next time I’m in San Marcos.
