Rustika Cafe and Bakery was founded by Francis Reznick in 1994. From the first day, executive Pastry Chef Francis put her vision to work. Today, it’s renowned as one of Houston’s best cafes and bakeries, with Francis’ children (and even her grandkids) lending a hand at the family-owned shop, which now has locations and is shipping nationwide.

I’ve been in a few times before, each being a great experience. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about today’s visit. The food and service is wildly inconsistent. The salad we ordered came dry- which was odd, because in past visits it came with some sort of dressing. We never received the water we ordered. Most underwhelming was the grilled cheese. The cheese was slightly cold- not as warm as the bread- and was not melted. The last time we ordered a grilled cheese here, it came warm and melted all the way through. The chips and empanadas were great as always. Disappointing lunch.

Place is perfect for breakfast or lunch date or with family. Lots of menu options and all tastes like scratch cooking!! skinny avocado toast with poached eggs eggs delicious and the chilaquiles definitely tastes like my mother in laws authentic Mexican cooking! Must get the fresh squeezed orange juice my 2 year old loves! We also got a cake for a birthday their famous raspberry. Memorable food!

I literally just walked in and asked if they could do a cake for someone who just graduated from massage therapy school. Leon said “we can do anything”. He wasn’t kidding! lol. I did research them before hand because I wanted a cake that had fewer preservatives. They definitely fit the bill! It was delicious and beautiful!

I had a delicious lunch at Rustica cafe and bakery. The fish tacos were really good, came with a Rustica side salad, very fresh, also came with homemade chips and salsa, also very good.Dessert Samples were at the bar where you get your water or tea and silverware, chocolate cake! My lucky day!! It was very good. I will definitely be a frequent flyer there.

This is a very simple cafe/bakery. You order at the registrar and they assign you a table. The tables are placed at a distance that is socially acceptable at this time. The potato soup was delicious and the chicken salad sandwich was different but good. The crepes we’re a little bland for me, however they had a good taste to it. The bakery goods were delicious. We all liked the pumpkin empanadas. They heat it up once you order it. For all you Pokemon lovers there are 2 Pokestops that always has a lot of Pokemon around to catch.

Came here to try and very happy we did. They have lunch specials but the amount of food you get, next time we will be sharing. The bread was amazing! For dessert we bought thumbprint cookies and they were perfect. We will be coming back here!

For a friend’s birthday, I ordered a tiramisu cake. He loves tiramisu, but I really didn’t know what to expect from a tiramisu cake. I just took a chance on it being good. Well, good doesn’t even begin to describe it; absolutely amazing comes much closer! The cake I received looked even better in person than it did in pictures. While we expected it to be really rich and decadent, it turned out to be really light, and the texture was just perfect. My friend said he’s pretty sure that it’s the best cake he’s ever tasted. It was a hit! I’m really looking forward to visiting Rustika Cafe and Bakery more as special occasions arise. I met only one person working there, a gentleman, and he was truly helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the Friendswood location.

I order our son’s birthday cake from here and all our guests raved about how good the cake tasted. Rustika is known for their strawberry cake. We had one tier strawberry and other funfetti. I was able to order through the manager who is very nice. Definitely recommend and plan to order again in the future.
