I’ve been to Mateus many times and I would say that the food is always great and the service is pretty good. I chose to come here for my birthday with my family and all was going well. Now I never seen any bugs besides flies going around (the door is normally open during the day, so they just fly in), but I never seen a cockroach here. I know being in NY, we’re bound to have a few roaches but this roach kept coming back. Every time I tried to scare it away or kill it, it just would run away and come back. I feel like as a customer I shouldn’t be trying to go all Hulk smash on a roach. It does concern me that a roach is out and about trying to get into my food (it did managed to get to my drink). It makes me wonder if there’s a large group of them lurking around. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of my food because I just felt turned off by the whole roach thing. Nonetheless everyone else enjoyed themselves and had a fun time.

I actually grew up in Queen’s village and always walked by this restaurant but up until today I never walked in there, biggest regret. For Monday the seafood was really fresh, The pasta was superb, And the overall service and atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back again.

Cozy place and delicious food! Huge variety of seafood and fish for any taste! Lots of different meet! Delicious desserts! And the stuff that is very friendly and makes you feel so welcome! The prices are very affordable!Loved everything about that restaurant! Highly recommed it to everybody!

I live here since 2008 first time I’ve ate here. It was delicious the fishermen platter special $22 . Money we’ll spend.It was enough 4 2 people. My son help me finish it. It was fresh. My guy couldn’t finish . We will be back.

This was an amazing experience. Ok Covid was a concern but they took my temp and it was normal. We were the only ones eating dinner as it was only 3pm. The wait staff is really friendly and nice and very helpful. I ordered unsweatened Ice Tea and they brought a fresh picture… very thoughtful. I had lobster Bisque which was so tasty with lobster pieces in it. I also had Grilled Octopus and that was amazing. Cannot tell you how delicious the sauce was. Then had a very fresh salad. For the Main dish I had Grilled Lamb Chops with a sauce that had a hint of cheese. After being completely blown away by the food, my friend ordered expresso and dessert, Creme Brulee.. Besides having a sugar high… I was in food heaven. You know I needed this. I also tasted one of their Oysters and several pieces of Lobster in a spicy red sauce. What a Meal… They are on instagram with a new menu every day an the food is delivered hot. Beautiful time much appreciated. Thank you so much
