I saw this place one day tucked off in the corner and googled it and say it was BBQ so I had to take a little trip and see what it was about and let me say the food is great from the wings that are smoked then dropped when ordered into hot grease to crisp the skin to the Briskets and pulled pork thay so tender and fall apart just touching it fries are fresh and crunchy the service is amazing I even watch several get turned away because they sell out quick so this place is definitely a place you need to come to I tried a little bit of everything I could and it was all amazing will be back for that Beef rib. But a must try again

I tried A Taste of Texas and wow! It’s a little hole in the wall place with little ambiance, but man everything was delicious. I was specifically blown away by the turkey since I’m typically not a huge fan of it, but it was moist and had so much flavor. The brisket, ribs, and pulled pork were also delicious. The sauces were out of this world and set the place apart from other spots I’ve been to. Flavors like Dr.Pepper, Black Cherry, and more. The bacon mac’n’cheese was awesome as well. The potato salad and sweet potato biscuits were good too, but didn’t compare to the meat and mac. It’s the best BBQ I’ve had in the area. Granted, I haven’t tried Redwood Smoke Shack yet, but this place was stellar. Definitely going back!

So…where to start on this joint. I don’t think I have a better statement than “the best authentic bbq in VB”….and in a 500 mile radius. I’m from TX, I grew up with a lot of bbq, worked at bbq pit in Dallas for years…..this is “IT”. 100% no holds barred authentic TX bbq, for those not aware we are talking brisket here. Simple, done exceptionally right. I’m a local foodie, I’ve been to the local joints and big box joints, and there is no comparison. The food was excellent, the place was clean, the staff were just great and wholesome people. So for the few people claiming to be from TX saying it’s just “OK” or saying worse…I’d be wary of their reviews.

Our first time here. We ordered a meat sweats platter with baked beans and Mac n cheese, and a pork sliders kids meal with fries. The kids meal was huge!! Our platter had brisket, pulled pork, and Jalapeno cheese sausage!!! OMGGG!!! So so good!! I can’t wait to have more. We ordered to go and they even brought it out to us and we didn’t even ask.

I’ve been passing this place by for almost a year and have been wanting to try it, today I had the time to finally visit. When you walk in the place immediately smells like a BBQ restaurant. The owners were very kind and personable! I ordered the platter with Brisket & Jalapeño sausage, along with the Mac and cheese, baked beans, and collard greens. Everything was FANTASTIC! The meats were smoked to perfection, the sides complimented the meal perfectly, and the blackberry & Dr Pepper sauces were otherworldly! Best BBQ in the 757 hands down, try it out and you won’t be disappointed!

Stopped in and had the brisket platter with the greens , bacon mac and cheese and some of the corn. When I say the food was amazing great portions and meat was melt in your mouth tender. Service was great and they were attentive. Even suggested to try some of the TV(Texas vinaigrette) on the greens, which took them to another level.

Our somewhat large group came here on a whim after an afternoon of shopping at the mall. And we are so glad we took the chance! Before we even finished walking in the door we were greeted with friendliness and quick service. We arrived in between lunch and dinner, so we were the only diners, but I seriously do not think we’d been treated any different. True charm!
