Arrived near the end of breakfast to meet some friends on this cute little corner. The place was buzzing with regulars coming and going, so I had high expectations. Unfortunately several of the more popular dishes were sold out, so we had the oatmeal and granola with a cappuccino and Americano. Coffee drinks were delicious and well made. The food dishes didn’t meet the mark – granola looked like a few scraps left behind from someone else.

Highly recommend anyone to try. Hand picked organic ingredients, thoughtful pairing , balance, flavors between cheese/veggies, sauces compliments nicely. We got their specialty today 1) ricotta toast with veggies & side salad 2) poached eggs with toast & side sweat peas salad

Cute little place. Feels very local. Oatmeal is surprisingly delicious. Not sure if I want to visit again but definitely happy with this brunch experience.

Love love love this place. Super fresh! Enjoyed the ample space outdoors for seating. The frittata was game changing and the open faced toasts.

Standard Fare is by no means what you get at this fun take out restaurant with that name. Enjoyed their grilled cod over rice one day while sitting outside in their covered sidewalk seating area, usually filled with a lunchtime crowd. Kelsie Kerr opened this high ceiling kitchen in 2014 to serve the local clientele in the quickly developing West Berkeley warehouse neighborhood. Sourcing fresh local and organic ingredients she and a battery of mostly women chefs work fast and furious for breakfast and a full lunch/brunch menu. Choices include a nice variety of healthy vegetarian as well as innovative meat/fish dishes all plated with a sense of color and design against the negative spaces of their custom made hand crafted pottery dishes by Jered Nelson, local ceramicist in Emeryville. Sandwiches are usually served between wedges of toasted focaccia embellished with pickles or salad or complementary flavored veggie garnish.

Just passing by the Standard Fare Restaurant minding my own business when a panhandler asked me for food money. I rarely give money but I offered to buy him a sandwich, that way I knew it wouldn’t be going to any of his many vices.

Wonderful little restaurant. You have to remember. It opens at 8:30. It is a little bakery that was recommended to me for lunch. However, I ended up going for breakfast. Their oatmeal was unbelievable. Which is odd to say about oatmeal. Great little find.

A great find on 8th St in amongst a wonderful enclave of other food and beverage related businesses.

Lovely weekday brunch spot! So many options for a quick takeaway breakfast. We couldn’t decide on which pastries to get so didn’t limit ourselves when choosing. The vegetable frittata was outstanding, and the cacao nib scone was one of the best ever. Can’t wait to go back to try out their lunch menu in the future!

There are a number of places like Standard Fare spread around the Bay Area. Places like Tartine, Jane the Bakery, and the like. Every neighborhood is lucky to have these bakery/lunch spots adorning the streets with wafts of homemade bread and other handmade confectioneries. It’s places like these that give the neighborhood a personality, a feel, a vibe.
