My cousin’s baby shower was held at Cafe Testarossa recently. From the moment we pulled the car up to unload the decorations and presents, etc., the staff was at the door to greet us and assist. They were extremely accommodating, polite, and gracious.

My husband and I went to Cafe Testarossa two months ago and again two weeks ago – we go quite often and this review is way overdue. It’s great. Anna (I believe is the manager and if she’s not she should be) greets you with a smile when you walk in and happily takes you to your table. We were there on a Saturday night around 7:30 and it was extremely busy. Anna is amazing- she stepped right in and helped the wait staff. She took drink orders, brought food, checked on tables to see if anyone needed anything. The waitresses and waiters are excellent too. Everyone works together and they all help each other when needed without being asked. It is easily seen that they all respect Anna and the example she sets. Anna is the backbone to this restaurant and the great service they give. She’s a 10 star employee. She leads by example. PS – the food is excellent every time.

Cafe Testarossa has long been one of my favorite spots and a recent return trip was no exception — in addition to the usual go-tos like the veal meatball sliders and lamb chops, I tried the new peach & corn salad, which was absolutely delicious. They added outdoor seating in the back, which is perfect for a summer night. Unfortunately I can’t make this a weekly stop due to not living in NY anymore, but I always stop in when in town for work or for a Sunday dinner on my way back from being out east.

One less star for on line reservations said only table available was 4pm, But there were many open tables from 4 – 7 pm while we were there. Okay now to the good part, this place is a classic Italian Restaurant, fancy, nice place with excellent prepared dishes, superb service and everything is always delish! We had the Halibut and it was out of this world (highly recommend). But first the apps; crabcakes w/shrimp added a nice little twist from traditional, clams oregano sweet small lots of flavor, calamari tender just what you would expect. Drinks include an Italian beer haven’t seen anywhere else (see pic) sangria Italian style is a refreshing version too. Another main entree was the Scallops also a favorite (kinda on the light side though), the Messi Rigatoni veal, sausage, peas, ricotta, just delish! Desserts are all so good too. Oh I can’t say enough about the service, so efficient other restaurants could learn from!

The food was actually pretty good. I had the fettuccine with lobster and shrimp. The portion size was just right, if but a little expensive. I also had the strawberry and peach cobbler for dessert, which was also very good The hostess seated us right between 2 parties of 10+ people, so our meal was not as quiet as we would have liked.

Testarosa is truly one of the best places on Li. The food is consistently great and Billy the owner has made it a place to come and feel like you’re part of his family. It’s more than a place to eat and more of a place to come and feel like you’re going home for the perfect meal. There is nothing he could do to make it better. Perfect !!!
