FANTASTIC! Great Long Island ice tea, great gumbo, outstanding Royal Reds that taste like miniature lobster. Finally the meal, a seafood Cajun pasta that was wonderful. No matter the location of half shell I can always count on a great meal and great service. Highly recommend and will be going back.

My first time here, very nice atmosphere, waitress servers and everyone is very nice. Love the fact of it being a mix crowd and kid friendly. We did have to wait however 20 minutes for a table. But well worth the wait, I just wanted to try the oysters and they were good.

One word…. Superb! Me and my wife met another couple for Sunday brunch. Can I say that everything was wonderful, the drinks, to the service, and above all,THE FOOD! We all agreed that this was some of the best seafood that we’ve each ever had. Please by all means give this place a try. We plan to make this a Sunday routine.

Amazing that they’re “temporary closed for renovations” but they haven’t had trash or dumpster service for over two months. Seems like if you were renovating people would be inside working, and you’d need a dumpster. This place is permanently closed. I’m not buying the temporarily closed shenanigans. Update: The grass and weeds at this place are so high it’s a neighborhood eyesore. Apparently they quit landscaping as well. Also there is a homeless guy that now lives on their porch.

Nice. They get all 5 stars because they covered all the bases. Professionalism, cleanliness, quality, reasonable price, and honesty ( they were upfront regarding wait times ). The gem we discovered was the fried okra! I don’t think this side dish gets its due. The waitress should say, ” you gotta try Our Okra!”.

Tried the Sunday brunch…Bananas foster French toast : sauce was good but it was to soggy for my taste. Staff was excellent and the crab cake brunch (I added shrimp) was amazing. Mimosas were good as well. The staff was friendly and the recommended appetizer-Voodoo shrimp was soooo good

Excellent dinner and service (Aaron). I first ate at Half Shell in Biloxi and have been wanting to go back. I recently found out there are a couple of locations in/near Birmingham. There will also be a new location in Pelham around the end of May (Campus 124 complex). A truly great place for date night. We had crawfish cornbread, charbroiled oysters, seafood stuffed portobello, and Caesar salad with voodoo shrimp. All were very good.

New to town and using TripAdvisor to find places to eat that were locally owned. It was late for dining … at least according to the hours posted for many Birmingham restaurants … but they didn’t blink when we showed up 48 minutes before closing. The food was very good and the portion sizes perfect. Not being a seafood fan, I appreciated the various land-based options. The chicken Alfredo was excellent! Service was very good; they were attentive but didn’t hover, answered questions thoroughly without blinking an eye, and anticipated our every need.
