At our Elizabethtown, KY location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I went in for a quick meal this afternoon and had the most fabulous experience ever, thanks to a special worker on staff — I unfortunately did not get her name (I believe it started with an L?) but they were a young, curly haired and thick lipped girl with cucumber green eyes. They instantly made me feel welcome and I swear it was their charisma and overwhelmingly positive, authentic attitude that made my food taste Michelin star quality! I had the seafood gumbo, as recommended by my quality server, and it was warm and hearty. It was really just what I needed after a long day! I cannot recommend going to this place enough, especially if one is able to bump heads with the server I mentioned! I will surely be going back. My hats off to that server again. They were prompt, took their time with me, and ensured I had a great experience. It’s hard to come across this kind of quality service, but this trip gave me hope in the youth of today. So respectful and patient she was with me… totally a blessing to have them in this establishment!

My great grandmother ate fried fish at Captain D’s in L’ville – She passed in ’77. I love Captain D’s. We’d rather go there than Red Lobster. Fish and shrimp platter is great. I only get the fries if I’m going to eat there…old fries from anywhere aren’t good. It does seem there is less tartar and cocktail sauce in the to go containers, will have to ask for more next time.

Food was decent, it’s fast food fish, I mean ♀️. But I nearly slipped on the greasy floors, then while getting my drink noticed the drink machine has black mold all over it. When I asked for another cup so I wouldn’t have to use the one that came in contact with mold, since Im allergic… I was literally told to get it myself. Water dripping from dirty ceiling tiles in the dining room. Food all over the floor 15 minutes after the dining room is open, no question it’s been there all night. Gross. Gross attitudes and gross establishment. I will say there was only one person there that even made us feel welcome.

Fish was delicious and hot. My fries were dead but the fish was so good I just dealt with them. They gave me plenty of condiments and napkins. Great service at the drive thru as well. Thanks!

It’s been a long time since I have been here but I was not disappointed. The service was great and the food was hot and fresh. The overall atmosphere was nice. So I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a great meal.

The dining area was sparse on decor, and some of the tables were dirty. The food was hot. However, the corn on the cob tasted like it was boiled in old stale water used on a previous day. The slaw tasted fresh.

We had a really large order and this crew handled it like pros front to back. The representative up front was polite and made sure we had everything thing we needed from condiments to forks. They cooked the entire order fresh and in record time. The fish, crabs, and shrimp all tasted good. It’s been a while since I worked in a restaurant, but remember we were never this organized. Really appreciate this team making our stop pleasant. You just don’t see service like this much often anymore. Very professional.
