Located on Spencer Iowa’s South Grand Avenue is the gem of a restaurant known as Sammy’s Italian Pasta & Pizza. This eatery serves up some of the most delicious Italian cuisine around. Their menu includes; Salads, Spaghetti, Home Baked Pastas, Homemade Specialties, Chicken dishes, Veal dishes, Seafood dishes, Sandwiches, Side orders and a locals favorite, their Pizza! Plus, twice daily they make and serve, with each table, their (should be patented) dinner rolls.

We have only been there once, but not bad. Food was pretty good. But, shortly after we got there, they got slammed with customers. And with only 2 waitresses, we waited over 30 minutes to get our drinks/water after placing our order. With about 15 tables, call in orders, and a drive thru I understand why they had a hard time keeping up. I will go back, to try again to make sure this was a fluke and their service can’t be normally this slow.

The food is great! Lunch specials for 9.99 that include salad and homemade bread. You can not go wrong with anything on the menu. Regular meals are only a few dollars more. Order ahead, and they have a drive thru window for pick up. You must try it. It might not look like much on the outside (old Pizza Hut) but you won’t be disappointed.

Small portions for the price and honestly tasted like my pasta sauce was from a jar. I don’t recommend this place at all!! My friend had ordered cheesecake from here the other day and it obviously had been frozen, like for a year in the foam carton! Lol. Seriously though; but it was inedible. The texture wasn’t good. I literally poked my finger in it and it barely made an indentation. Straight to the trash and I am telling all the people I know to ever eat here.

My husband and I absolutely love Sammy’s!! When we have family out friends from out of town and we are looking for somewhere to go for supper we always throw Sammy’s out as consistently delicious option!! We have never had anything we didn’t like! 10/10 would recommend.

Fantastic experience. Food was absolutely the best! The cheesy garlic bread is a must try. It has real pieces of chopped garlic on each piece not some garlic dried out seasonings. Good size portions for price. Fast friendly service. Will definitely be back to try more dishes.

This place is amazing. Was in town for a sporting event and decided to try it out. What a hidden gem in a small town. Service was top notch, very friendly and polite. Food was delicious and true Italian. Had the chicken sarparelli and can’t wait to stop again!
